While Americans have been able to purchase a black Xbox 360 for around six months, Europeans are lucky if they can find one on Ebay. Fortunately, this will change on August 24th. On August 24th, Microsoft will have given retailers all across Europe access to the Xbox 360 Elite, and will let said retailers sell the console. The cost of this, according to a Nordic retailer, is €479/£349. The main differences between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Elite are obvious. The Elite version is black, and has HDMI/a 120GB hard drive.

I knew they would come to Europe before Halo 3.
I'll either grab this one or wait for some cheap deals for the "old" Premium one.

It's still funny how the biggest market for video games gets stuff last and overpriced. :)

PS: Picture not working

6 months? Bloody hell, are you sure? I thought it came out in about February, maybe after?

Oh, and the pricing isn't as bad as I expected, but still a little high. Shame it's still likely to show the red ring of death and make me cry about shipping costs to an MS specialist of some kind, otherwise I'd buy try and buy one, finally use that 1080p TV to its full potential.

Image fixed.

i personally don't expect this console to sell well in Europe at that price point, compared with a ps3 this elite xbox isnt value for the money since it doesn't include a hd-dvd drive.

What, you don't want to be elite? ;p

I think HDMI is *ok* while the bigger HDD is really nice. Xbox Marketplace offers so much, it easily fills a 20GB disk in notime.

Are there any reports on the specific Elite-failure rate? I mean, they had the chance to change the termal design in those.

3 words....waste of money (well if you own a 360 already that is) ;)

These would have been good if they were 65nm like promised :(

I dont think it has been 6 months we Americans have been able to purchase the Elite version. I believe it only has been around 3. Also, when did Europe become the biggest market for games?

Said so in 2002.
a) We got more people than Russia and the US together.
b) Shit is overpriced here, companies make more profit here. (Seriously, it's like... 'do I buy a new PC in Europe or... do I buy a new PC, a new monitor, a house with a pool, a car and a plane in the US for the same money'. Yeah, I like to exagerate.)

But the biggest market will or probably is the Asia-Pacific market. Although I guess there are only about 100 legally sold games in China and OVER NINE THOUSAND trillion pirated ones. ;p

But I do really not have the facts as of 2007, so it might aswell be America right now.

Edit: I did some googling and came to the conclusion that no article really has any facts and figures about it besides guessing... You see Europe, Japan and the US as winners in different articles, lol.

Twice the population, twice the game sales :D.....twice as expensive  well OK not quite.

Although, having said that, I just did some digging myself and for the first 6 months of 2007 the US leads in the World console game market, with the EU close behind, Asia is actually behind the EU this year to date but apparently, by end of year Asia is normally in top position and both the US and EU tend to show similar figures over the last 3 years so not a lot in it really, one point noted however was that demand exceeds availabilty in UK this year to date and that was not the case for the US which would suggest that if there were greater quantities of certain consoles shipped then there would be higher sales...the UK is currently the leading country in the EU regarding console game sales this year, well thats the info provided by the site I saw, not sure if it's spot on or what.
