Xbox One X and PS4 Pro can run 1080@60FPS

A couple of games here and there, sure. But no, X and Pro are not proper 1080p60 machines by any stretch of the imagination. Ironically enough, the GPU power is plenty but the severely underclocked Jaguar cores just aren't fast enough for a locked 60fps.

I can pull up a list now that can prove that

A list ? Sure, I suppose one exists. I bet it's rather sparse though.

https://www.gamesradar.com/every-xbox-one-x-enhanced-game-4k-hdr-framerates-and-features-explained/

Beat you to it, just Ctrl+F "60fps ". The numbers speak for themselves. The kind of games that feature 60fps modes too.

don't knock if ya not try'd it lol not nowhere as bad as some people will try and make out
the cpu does limit the console in some game your are correct

although over all most people who put it down wouldn't even give it a chance but you would be pleasantly surprised even if linked with a cheap 4k hdr TV

I ain't knocking on anything. Just saying the truth, these consoles are good for 1440p-2160p 30fps (mostly) but are completely inept for 60fps.

well hate to say it there are games that plays a full 4k and 60 fps it's cpu demanding games that it falls over on so they cap at 30fps sometime it goes less but hay what do you want for £450 ? well £399 these days

Some experts say that the console and PC will be irrelevant very soon: cloud gaming services will make dedicated and powerful hardware unnecessary
Lemme guess, the experts are from Nvidia GRID marketing department, amirite?

Breaking news! also confirmed: the sky is blue, water is wet, and the sun rises over the east every morning!

In all seriousness, I would really love to see Sony or MS tackle the portable console market like Nintendo did with the Switch, that's my favorite console by far this gen, and I have invested way more time playing on my Switch than on my ps4 and my xbox one combined.

The fact that I can just play 5 minutes between patients and then resume my game where I left off at my leisure, makes this the perfect console for me.

Don't get me wrong, we need the PS5s and XboxYZs or whatever to play hardcore games, and I don't think console or PC gaming are going anywhere in the foreseeable future, but at the same time, I dream of a portable console able to run games like Forza or God of War or Shadow of the Tomb Raider on the go...

They should aim for 8k res and Best VR with 1500+ppi and class it like Apple, sell it for 899, I would buy it provided they support keyboard and mouse.

Cloud gaming will not succeed unless every household has a fiber going through with a latency of less then <1ms. Other then that cloud gaming is only good for RTG. Forget any fast pace gaming on cloud the first 10 year at least.

Console will still have a important role; sony realises this. Just by looking at their sales from the past generations (PS2/PS3/PS4) they know they can throw in another next-gen console EASILY.

Everytime I hear about the cloud, I think of Larry Ellison from that old Triumph of the Nerds doc. These guys always come off as blowhards (but maybe not as bad as Ellison).

edit: I don't know why they turn me off really. I just recoil at the lack of power or something. These are enterprise/unix centric dudes who want everyone else to live with a terminal.

My ps4 pro is only 2 years old, so sony can take their time to get things right for the 2020-21 release gap is fine by me

Ping needs to be really low for online generated gfx games. I have a ping of about 25ms and it is acceptable - but not great.
Online generated gfx doubles the ping - that would be 50ms for me - what is bad but not unplayable.
However 25 ms ping is a lot better as what most connections are. 100ms ping is not uncommon and this makes gaming already unplayable.
This would double to 200ms...
Average ping would need to go down to 10 ms or bellow. Well - this might be an issue for most connections...
Bandwidth is not a problem - most connection do have the needed bandwidth.

I'm in the 50ms range.. and that's being the only user of the connection atm.

Cloud gaming isn't going to happen any time soon. In order to enjoy it you'd need, a constant and very reliable ~10ms ping to the server. I tried to play with 60-80ms ping and experience was simply awful. And that was Metro 2033, a single player game. Best of luck with MMO's.

We need to focus on countries expanding their network infrastructure before we can even begin to conquering cloud gaming. The majority of the world doesn't even hit the recommended requirements for bandwidth used for cloud gaming. Sure, some places have better setups than others, but the only way to produce a mass adoption of any device or software is to give easy access to all users. This is why consoles are still popular. There is nothing wrong with having vision for an idea to grow, but we have to look at this logically too. People pick up consoles because they are cheap, easy to move around, and they know the games are designed to work on them. The average user does not care about how pretty something could be or fps. Is it smooth enough for a decent experience. Every regular person that is not a pc gamer is generally in this line of thought process. How do they know if something is better if that one item is all that they have to compare it to? The internet is a great tool that has changed our society drastically, but relying on it too much could be a bad thing. No internet in cloud gaming means no gaming. If my internet goes out. I have peace of mind that my personal NAS has multiple tv shows, movies, etc. If I feel like gaming on desktop or console. I have my entire gaming library locally. No internet required.

Good, bring on the next gen hardware. Streaming anything that requires user input is a terrible idea.

Is there any console right now that can do 1080p@60Hz on ALL games out there? Just curious.
