Capcom have announced one of the most expensive Limited Collector's Edition packages for a single game that I've ever seen; but the thing with Collector's Editions is that pricing usually isn't a significant factor: ownership is. And the company knows that price is relative, and that buyers will always appear for any kind of product (especially if it's a limited run), and have gone and announced a $7,800 Limited Edition of Devil May Cry 5, which comes with a leather jacket that's a facsimile copy of the one Dante wears in the game.

There are other two versions of these Ultra Limited Editions, which are slightly cheaper; one with a leather jacket for Nero ($6,700), and another for V ($5,350). So, yeah. You can follow the source link for them. DMC5 launches on March 8th, 2019, though; there's still a long way to go until someone can wear these jackets.

It would probably be cheaper to pay a tailor to hand make it.

$7,800 Limited Edition of the Devil May Cry leather jacket?

I guess the devil did cry when they made a leather jacket out of his arse. That'll be only reason i can see it being worth $7800.

Aah, they just testing the waters - how much they can rip off those imbeciles, who's paying $$$$$ for gaming stuff. Just ignore it (if you're not an imbecile ;D)

The low-res character face next to that coat really is the finishing touch. Console 4K in all of its glory

at least it will actually be limited edition unlike everything else that claims to be limited edition of 50k copies

I'm happy I'm not the only one that caught that. I may not have the greatest eyesight, but it's good enough to see that's a terrible marketing image for a $7800 product. The dude even kinda has the look of "WTF am I looking at" on his (low res) face!

Well, 50K is still a limit, isn't it? :p

Neither. At least not entirely.

It is value, because it is subjective, that counts more; in fact only value has... value. Motives and means derive from that.

Ownership is only a mean to get goods and create value (barter is another one). Price is (initially) the good's value estimated by the seller.

Market transactions happen (per definition) because your valuation is higher than the seller's estimate.
