It's official: Take-Two Interactive recently revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has now sold over 100 million units since it was launched in 2013. That's an impressive feat not only for that cold number, but also for being able to sell copies with a game that is five years old. On May Take-Two announced that the game had hit 95 million copies sold, for example, so sales rate are really good after all this time. the original game has evolved and grown with continuous updates that have allowed players to enjoy new content on a regular basis. These sales have also been helped by key factors such as the progressive reduction of its price, of course.

The announcement was part of the financial results in Q2 for Take-Two Interactive. The company has seen net revenue growing 11% to $492.7 million compared to the same period of last year. It's interesting to see how digital-delivered net revenue grew 18% to $358.4 million. This represents 73% of total revenue currently, something reasonable if we consider the success of Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online, NBA 2K18 and NBA 2K19. But again, selling over 100 million units is something that only some very special games can do: only Tetris and Minecraft have done that previously.

No wunder. GTA V is for me the bedst game in the series so far (GTA SAN ANDREAS is the seconds bedst in the series acording to my opinion). I have supporded rockstar by bying the game twice. First for ps3 and later for pc. I like open world games and that you can do almost any thing when you want to.

And i am for sure looking for to gta 6 as well.

this was a great game... good writing, good humor, tons to do.

Driving on high refresh was fun as well.

Multiply that with 5 for illegal copies and you get 500 million people who played/playing game.

So, like 1/15 of the whole Earth's population? That's a lot of people.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will definitely not come to the PC. ;)

I seriously doubt there is half a billion people out there that have even heard about the game, let alone play it.

There is games ........ and there is GTA series.

100 Million hackers later.
I gave up two years ago or so I think.

too bad the game is pretty damn crap for a gigantic list of reasons.

Online is a shit show

Can you mention a couple of those reasons? I'm intrigued.

Maybe I'm too old school, but imo, GTA1 and GTA2 were THE BEST games of the whole franchise.

Played the online for about 15 mins and I was like do people really play this?

Single player is fun as hell though.

I think it's fun if you play it exclusively with your friends in a private session and not give a damn about grinding. There are loads of coop missions, races, heists, adversary modes. Or simply just derp around. :)

I've still yet to buy it but then I'm looking out for the non downloadable copy if I'm honest.. Do they still do those?? :)

Honestly, so much has been added to the game you might as well at this point just buy the download.

Won't they do an add on disc?? ;)

Maybe if you ask nicely they will put the game on 9567129056112 3.5 inch floppies for you.

I don't know man, but I don't have any desire for content on disc ever since Baldur's Gate 2 took 4 CD-ROMs, and one would inevitably get scratched. You can still print a cover and put it in a DVD box for the idea? :)

ONtopic... might reinstall this again sometime. I played the story and that was all she wrote, was kinda burned out from the eternal GTA concept. But when I see screens, I do get that itch again.

I only like having discs as something like a symbol of owning a game, but not for the actual data on it. I don't even have an optical drive and my PC is 7 years old!

I'm surprised they didn't use blu ray but extra costs and such like I'm sure...
Either way, I'm looking forward to adding this to my collection, I'm hoping I can get a copy for not much cash :D

Maybe because even less people have Blu Ray readers in their PCs than regular optival drives.

I get that :) Bit like when things went from CD to DVD, just a matter of time really but like you say, not a lot of people actually use optical drives anymore.. I do more so for backups and such but meh :)

The bidding for GTA 5 will finish tomorrow morning, so here's hoping I can grab it at a good price :) £20 or so wouldn't be too bad I don't believe :)

Bids for a key?

Google is a thing, search for 'key GTA V' and enjoy your discount... or is this bid for an actual boxed version?
