Bad Times for Motherboard and GPU Makers: Oversupply and High Prices in 1H19

Looks like my good ol' 3770K CPU + GTX 1080 will long live and prosper for at least another 2 years... Ridiculous times we live, when prices are going over the roof crazy and performance increase is just barely scarce...

Guess we'll all have to go back to the future with 1991 pricing. Pay a lot for nothing much at all! :D

that's nothing... try a $3000 Pentium 60/66/90/100 era etc (and i'm sure there are others older than that even more expensive) ...e.g.

I thought supply and demand controlled pricing?
You didn't get the memo ~ this is the new normal. In India we always see this, the govt reduces taxes but companies don't pass on the benefits. It happens if/when the demand slows drastically, even then the prices are lowered only marginally. With relatively stable demand, why would any greedy publicly traded company reduce their margins or profits? This isn't the commodity sector & even there we rarely see oversupply causing a price crash these days.

I like the fun. How mining really affected motherboard makers. Like 8 cards on one cheapest potato board.

Most mobo vendors also sell gpu boards now.

yeah yeah more excuses for Intel and Nvidia to make more money
we are paying 800+ dollars for a card that is only 5% faster than the 1080ti released over 20 months ago and was 100 bucks cheaper
if you want something that is 30% faster you'd have to cough up over 1300 dollars! thats over 60% more!
The gtx 1080ti which is 30% faster than the gtx 1080 but only costed 17% more when it was released

that's nothing... try a $3000 Pentium 60/66/90/100 era etc (and i'm sure there are others older than that even more expensive) ...e.g.

yes yes and the cell phones were like 4000 bucks in the 80s
