You asked for it, we did it. Over the years, Logitech G community has consistently asked us to bring back the legendary Logitech G MX518, which many consider to be the finest gaming mouse of all time. Today Logitech G is excited to announce that the new MX518 gaming mouse is now available to fans around the world.

The reborn MX518 retains the same shape and feel of the original that made it famous but is updated to the very latest, next-generation technologies, including HERO 16K sensor and the addition of a 32-bit ARM processor for a super fast 1 ms report rate. The MX518 also features eight programmable buttons so you can bind custom commands. With onboard memory, you can also save your preferences directly to the mouse, so you can use it on different systems without the need to install custom software or reconfigure your settings.

But we didn't just improve the inside. While the shape remains the same, we updated the materials and added an exclusive "Nightfall" finish for a sophisticated and contemporary look when crafting this meticulous evolution of our legendary mouse.

You can find more about the mouse in the video below - we hope you are as excited about this upgrade as we are!

I hope we see some more classics get "reborn" (remade/updated) after this. Would love to see a modern sensor in a G9x.

Please come up with a wired gaming mouse with the same scroll wheel in MX Master /2S, Thank you.

Bring back the G5/G500/s instead of this antiquated design with a crappy scroll wheel.

Retro wave coming big in 2019 ha!

An original MX518 is sitting next to the keyboard I'm typing this post on. It's over a decade old and the only thing I've ever had to replace on it is the cord, which I got off Ebay. If Logitech can make the new one anywhere near as legendarily durable as my current one, I'll buy it.

How about the Marble FX trackball with modern day technology, a scrollwheel and dpi switcher?

I still use mine at the remote office :-)

I wasn't crazy about the MX518's shape the palm height was a bit too high for my liking I wish it had been a bit better sculpted and lower profile. It's fine for medium to larger hands, but small to medium I didn't find it very great. It was a nice mouse overall outside of that issue, but that caused a bit of discomfort after awhile for me at least. The cord on it was junk though and made it had a shorter than normal lifespan. I've had a back reliability track record with Logitech mice in general. I'm glad there are way more options today.

Well well, such a good day so far. New PoE League, now this.
I just hope it is the same quality as the old one and that there will be version with the same texture as the old one.
Had mx518 back in the day, lasted 8 years or so before sensor started dying. By far the best mouse I've ever used. Now so used to Mionix NAOS shape, it might be hard to make the switch.

Heh, mine didn't need anything replaced. The finish peeled off in time though. So while it works as fine as it did on day 1, it looks terrible. I'd be tempted to get one on these, but my G5 is also going strong.

It's been availible in China for at least 6 months and they are announcing it right now? ok? i guess?

Indeed.

Still use a G500s myself and have a brand new one in the box.

The G500s had terrible thumb buttons (far too small to hit reliably), and the G5 was only marginally changed from the MX518 except for the slot for weights. It seems likely they've updated the scroll wheel mechanism, though, even if the wheel is still on the small side (and that button in front of the wheel is useless unless your fingers have four joints).

Hopefully this will be reasonably cheap, and they'll slot in more premium "updates" above it - wireless, rechargeable wireless with a better scroll wheel, etc. Just keep the general shape - it's amazing. My G602 is not a bad replacement, but I still miss my old G7's (wireless G5) ergonomics.

That's super cool.
I hope it will be spread worldwide and will make happy users.

While the MX500 (that I have) is a nice mouse, I think the G500 (that I also have and use) is way superior. It has 3 side buttons and adjustable weight.

What are you on about? If you are thinking that the “infinity scroll wheel” is an improvement you are sorely mistaken, those become lose and prone to over scrolling after 6 months. There is not to many good mice from Logitech with a proper, simple scroll wheel.

Also, the G5, MX 500 and MX 518 is the same shape, but with different sensors, weights and number of buttons.

First the IME 3.0 and now this :) I used the mx518 a couple of years. It was good but not perfect for me. Little large and heavy for my relatively small hands. I might give the renewed IME 3.0 a try though

I am genuinely very excited about this mouse!!!

I am going to buy one... wait, no, I should buy 10 of them for when they discontinue a damn good mouse again.

Glad this is back on the market. Still using a G400 myself.
I have two G5s still in service and my main mouse is the G700...

How about a Blue Faceplate

got any numbers to back that up? because speaking from personal experience and never having read anything about it on the web, the infinity scroll wheel is both reliable and fantastic to have, truly miss having it on my current mouse.
