Nigerians use OLPC laptop to browse for porn

This is a bit sad... but yes, these free laptops should definately have filters put onto them.
 
I just find this so damn funny:

What on earth is all this bitching about? Don't FORCE YOUR VALUES onto other people. Maybe in their country, porn is a good thing. Sex certainly isn't taboo like in Anglo-saxon countries. AIDS is rife in Africa, and any form of access to safe-sex (education?) may, actually, be beneficial.

Secondly, I hear that access to porn at an early age helps young boys grow a big johnson. Really important for young africans. What else have they got to attract women? Not education, nor money...

So you are basically saying that you think it's ok that companies practically give away
laptops for education and then being used to watch porn.
And if their dick is all they have then they should look up on the internet how to use it.
And not go running around and using it as their AIDS cannon.

But yeah, this is bad. The kids got em for education, so they should be restricted from any 'adult' material.
 
Wow, I don't know if I should laugh, or shake my head in disgust. It funny because I suspected something like this would happen, but sad because it flies in the face of an altruistic idea.

Granted we all know why the net was born, but still...
 
Just think about it, these are really deprived kids with nothing of all the things we take for granted in life so when they get this laptop its like the black thing out of 2001 space oddysee, they all gather round and are mesmerized by it and what do they do, watch porn, i think it would get a little embarrassing if someone wanted to spray a load, what with all the others around him and such, could get very sticky.:eek::wtf:

If these are kids in the Nigerian ghetto I'm thinking it takes them all day just to get one 23 second vid. Let's donate a fat pipe to the poor lads so they can finish in 15 minutes and get on with other things. :toast:

My wife thinks they'll start taking all the customer service jobs away from India. :laugh:
 
i agree with mopeymartian, how can they sit and watch porn all day long when they have no money to pay for food etc let alone subscribe to porn sites or newsgroups or even how to use them, yeah they could use torrents etc but we all know it takes an eternity to d/l anything off torrents. they could be using some kind of free sites to view it and if they are they best send some links :laugh::laugh:

i think its being exagerated a fair bit tbh, and the only place i assume they get an internet connection is at school so its down to the school to stop them unless they watch it with them and if thats the case then they should send decent teachers instead of laptops. imo :)

I wonder if the OLAP is splash proof? Or the keyboard and/or power will fail? Anyone want to voluteer to be Service-Tech-Support for these machines?

kids in this country do the exact same thing so I dont see a difference between their children and ours
 
the difference is these children were given the laptops to improve their education and overall quality of life, yes we have deprived kids but these are some of the worst in the world.
