AMD has filed a trademark for an updated design on their Vega logo. The original Vega logo was made out of two full triangles, arranged in such a way as to form the letter "V". The updated trademark has since made an appearance on AMD's professional line of graphics cards, in the form of packaging for the Radeon Pro WX 9100 - likely an effort from AMD to further separate its professional and consumer graphics.

The new logo is the old being revisited, with the same prismatic arrangement, but with added detailing for a 3D effect, which makes sense in the 3D rendering world that AMD's professional graphics cards are used in. Perhaps this AMD investment in updating the branding means a refresh could be coming for its professional graphics card market that still uses the Vega architecture, though this is mere speculation at this point.

I'm not seeing it, only a change in colour which could have been photoshopped.

Try using eyeglasses from movie "They live" ;)

Nope, old logo was better. This one has the same style as any scifi themed retail graphics card box, generic and boring, trying (too hard) to look cool, only designed to attract teenagers. (You guessed right, I'm not a teenager.)

Wow, slow news day, is it? This is enough to speculate on a new AMD graphics card update?

:ohwell:

Attracting teenagers is crucial in creating future loyal fanboys

They should make the "V" look more like a Vag...I bet more people would notice that.

A Lisa Su signed special edition.

Instead of pouring money in trademarking a V put it in R&D. Give us the gamer that will wipe the floor with Nvidia.

Besides, Vega reminds me of the Chevy Vega...

You should see the one my neighbor built. I haven't asked him about it. I just know it's got racing slicks on it, and roars like a pissed off lion when he starts it up every know and then. I presume it runs on nitro too from the empty cans I keep seeing outside his garage. Pretty badass at any rate.

Side note: I kinda sorta owned a Monza wagon(based on the Vega) when I was a young teen. My parents gave it to me and said if I could get it running I could keep it. Which never happened.

Yes, it's a great canvas to make something good and custom out of it. As with the Pinto and Gremlin...Too bad, we can't do that with a graphics card.
