After the AMD - INTEL Cpu price wars it seems that Microsoft is about to enter the same contest with SONY according to an interview over at Hollywood Reporter. The 50$ drop was not revealed if it would apply to all Xbox 360 models or only to an individual model such as the 299$ Core or the 479$ Elite. The reason for passing up an announcement at this month's E3 gaming show could be related to the recent forged Microsoft - EA strategic alliance since EA plans to launch the latest Madden football game, which could help the console sell extra units.

Cutting for Xbox360 doesn't seem to yield more user to really buy em. They should just fix the hardware problem that many has encountered. With this price drop of course even better income :)

switch to 65nm processors should solve their problems, both over heating issues and cost.

And for a console that been out since 2005, its surprising that they haven't done this yet.

As for the overheating issue, they need to use better thermal compound and put a fan on the heatsinks it maybe drive up the cost a tid, solved my heating issue.

agreed agility. make the damn thing work first and also drop the price in the process <G>
