Confirmed: AMD to Cut RX 5700-series Prices at Launch

AMD in a Facebook post late Friday confirmed that its Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards will launch at reduced prices compared to what it announced at its E3-2019 product announcement. The Radeon RX 5700 XT will have a reduced MSRP of USD $399, which puts it on par with that of the GeForce RTX 2060 Super. The Radeon RX 5700 will cost $50 less, at $349, which puts its price on par with the original RTX 2060. The commemorative limited-edition RX 5700 XT AMD 50th Anniversary Edition is now reduced to $449. AMD didn't announce any changes to the two cards' launch bundle that include a 3-month Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Commenting on the development, AMD said "We embrace competition, which drives innovation to the benefit of gamers. In that spirit, we are updating the pricing of our Radeon RX 5700 Series graphics cards, launching July 7." The company added "We know that gamers will be thrilled once they have the opportunity to experience the amazing performance, stunning visual fidelity and highly responsive gameplay these new graphics cards provide. Making history on 7/7 as the first company to launch gaming CPUs and GPUs together - the first in 7nm and PCIe 4.0 - is all about pushing the ultimate gaming experience forward for as many gamers as possible."

As a GTX 970 owner I am happy to have some competition finally and being on a 4th gen core i5 I feel like it is finally time to probably go full on new pc. Ram prices are way down. SSD prices are way down. Ryzen 3000 cpu's will be out PCI-E 4 is launching with it. Seems like a good place to jump into the platform.

One of my jobs disallows any internet connection that is not strictly for work use and disallows personal use of work devices. Use of personal devices is also strictly disallowed. Par for the course at that job.

They are late to the market, perceived as having less features ( FPS halving trace, DeepBlur), Radeon mindshare is low, they should be trying to win people again with great deals not trying to milk off the gate.
nVidia have big dies and inflated stock prices based on huge margins, they can't afford a price war, that's where AMD should be hitting.
Great perf/$ that was your GPU game for quite a while AMD and it will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Not a good sign and much of faith in the product then.

That's terrible thing to do before launch in one day, week after - yeah I get it. Clearly Radeon marketing itself as value brand because in consumer space AMD is nowhere. NVidia can squeeze us more with next gen despite official minimal price drop with Turing rev.2. If they release 2080TiS price will probably stay where it is because there is no reason to cut it.

ohhhh, then a RX 5700 XT will be welcome along a R5 3600 (and a X570 since the price reduction will make that "OHHHH THE HORROR HEDT PRICED LINEUP" in line with budget... )


now now .... just waiting my retailer to list them ... :laugh:
 
RTX 2060 Super is at the $400 mark, we should expect 5700XT to either equal or just beat it?
 
Looks like the cheapest price here for a PowerColor AXRX 5700 8GBD6-M3DH is the equivalent of US$375, with most RX 5700's going for $385.

The cheapest RX 5700XT seems to be PowerColour again, with the AXRX 5700XT 8GBD6-M3DH for US$423 and the average price for an RX 5700XT being US$436.

That's 5% VAT plus about 5% for the middle man, not too bad.

For comparison, the cheapest RTX 2060 is an Asus card for $320 and the cheapest RTX 2070 being a Zotac card for US$449.
 
Heh, took AMD to threaten with Navi for NV to release the actual legit 2060, not the gimped version using a midrange chip. Super...pfft. Those are just the models NV would have released had AMD been competing from the start.
