Well it may not be the tape we all see in the Mission Impossible series and movies but it does come pretty close. The IronKey employs military-grade AES hardware-based encryption using its IronKey Cryptochip. The encryption keys are stored on the drive itself and your password is required in conjunction with the keys to access and decrypt files. If you forget your password after ten consecutive failed password attempts the IronKey self-destructs internally and erases everything on the drive using flash-trash technology that physically overwrites every byte making the data completely unrecoverable. The 1GB version costs 79$ and the 4GB version costs 149$.

Thats pretty neat concept, but I can write a program to do that.

so.......could i use the flashdrive again?

Well i don't see plastic explosives anyplace in the drive so i think it's a safe bet to say yes. However you might wanna check it with them first :)

:( i wanted plastic explosives

Or acid, lots of acid. And it shoots into the computer or whatever it is attached to.

This is so cool for military use. I can see a situation where they kidnap a us military man with crucial data. He dont give them the password or hes forgotten it due to beatings and a small puff of smoke kills the drive, the pc its on and unleashes a virus!!! <G>

Like the virus idea... but then it'd kill the captured guy, who might still be alive :)

what would suck though is if one of your friends pinched ure drive and entered in the code wrong on purpose to screw with whats on the thing :P
