FSP Unveils FlexGURU 250W and 300W Modular Power Supplies

This series of compact, modular, quiet and efficient power supplies is designed for roles such as IPC (Industrial PC), HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer), Edge Computing, and NAS (Network Attached Storage) and NAS Servers. The FlexGURU series includes 250 W and 300 W models. These slim but powerful PSUs - just 150 x 40.5 x 81.5 mm - offer 20 percent higher power density than other typical Flex ATX power supplies. FlexGURU can fulfill VAR (Value Added Reseller) demands involving small quantity requirements from edge computers. This reduced the need to purchase large amounts of customized PSUs and keep stock waiting to be sold.

FSP's FlexGURU Flex ATX's modular design with slim ribbon cables allows for easier set up, reducing cable clutter and improves airflow efficiency. Users only need to install the minimum number of cables required for their own system. Modular connectors allow users to efficiently move cables, and reduce debugging time for a better experience. This also gives users the flexibility to replace the PSU without the hassle of disconnecting every cable from the PC. FSP has created a universal bracket that fits into two different orientations for quick installation into any chassis. The mounting holes and auxiliary bracket are designed to ensure the FlexGURU series is compatible with 99 percent of Flex-ATX PC chassis on the market.

I'm curious, how does this help reduce cable clutter, when you only get one expansion cable with SATA/Molex connectors on it?

Not much of a difference, no, but it sure makes adding custom cabling far easier, which I would guess is the main attraction. There are a lot of tiny FlexATX cases popping up recently (especially on Taobao), so this should be perfect for those and capable of powering a 120-150W GPU easily if you add the necessary cables.

I do have a small form factor case that only accept flex atx power supply but unable to find a psu you for it. Look like this is a great addition to small form factor world.

This, exactly. It might not be a huge deal to a consumer who's building 1 or 2 systems, but I work for a system integrator and being able to customize a cable harness to have exactly 0 excess cable length for a particular system is invaluable.

Modular FlexATX....never expected to see this one out. I have a case with only FlexATX PSU. Currently I have this unit: Seasonic SS-250SU 250W . But as I checked now all current gamma on Seasonic is modular as well. I guess I just missed that.

Interesting. Though, one thing bothers me: FSP only throws around phrases like "85-90% efficiency" and "Compliant with blah-blah safety standards", but all of that is just to mask the fact that it has no 80+ certificate or ETA/Lambda rating. Maybe it's an awesome PSU, but I'd wait for reviews before hooking it up to your server or NAS.

Got that one as well: replaced a failed unit in our mail server just a couple of months ago. It's old AF architecturally, but quite reliable. Last one worked for over 8 years 24/7 in harsh conditions (no AC, dust, enclosed space). Wanted to get a modular one, but it wouldn't fit into my weird chassis.

Wow, I love this, definitely want to grab a few. I have a few random ideas on how to fit them into a case, use Phantek's PSU combo.

Turns out the wiring is not quite what it looked like on the pictures here, although, I'm not sure this helps with cable clutter reduction...
Also, not going to be easy to get custom cables for that.

Getting? Making. Unless you insist on individually sleeved cables (which is quite silly for SFF given the space required), wiring up a new peripheral chain with the needed SATA (if any) and a PCIe power plug would be relatively simple.
