Logitech today announced that it has agreed to acquire Streamlabs of San Francisco, California. Streamlabs is a leader in software and tools for live streaming, allowing game streamers to engage with viewers, grow their brands and channels, and monetize their broadcasts across platforms like Twitch, YouTube, Mixer and Facebook.

Ujesh Desai, general manager and vice president of Logitech G, commented: "We've been fans of Streamlabs and their software since we started partnering with them over two years ago. Their industry-leading software is complementary to our existing gaming portfolio, and we believe we can do even greater things together."

Ali Moiz, Streamlabs' chief executive officer, said: "Streamlabs and Logitech both share a strong passion for gaming and a dedication to serving the global community of gamers and streamers. Joining with Logitech allows us to keep doing what we love and be bolder than ever on a much bigger stage."

Logitech has agreed to acquire Streamlabs for approximately $89 million in cash, with an additional payment of $29 million in Logitech stock subject to the achievement of significant revenue growth targets for Streamlabs.

Expected Impact on Financial Results for Fiscal Year 2020
The Streamlabs acquisition is not expected to materially impact Logitech's Fiscal Year 2020 annual net sales or non-GAAP operating profitability. It is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the coming weeks.

About Streamlabs
Streamlabs is the leading provider of tools for professional streamers. Founded in 2014, its groundbreaking software, Streamlabs OBS, offers the largest set of features that content creators use to grow their audiences, engage with fans, and monetize their streams.

Update Sep 27th:
The following update was posted to the OBS Project Twitter page:
We are seeing several news sites publishing articles stating that we have been acquired by Logitech. These articles are not correct. Tools and alerts provider Streamlabs has been acquired by Logitech; OBS and the OBS Project remain fully independent.

Logitech clearly wants into what Corsair has. Logitech wants software for streaming hardware.

Logitech clearly wants into what Corsair has

Yea, and it's called M. O. N. E. Y.... hehehe :)

it's not like they don't have a good bit already....

I would download obs versions incase they vanish.

Eh, i prefer the original OBS anyway, which this is based on IIRC

I see this as a net negative for users overall.

I would download obs versions incase they vanish.

Probably won't get updated anymore outside of Logitech's always running proprietary software. Still, I would download it too since it runs well enough as is.

Wow holy moly I was like WTF! This is not OBS Project that got acquired thank god or it would have been like another "Facebook aquires Oculus"-caliber story, the title is a bit confusing even tho the names they use are prone to confusion themselvs.

Streamlabs OBS =! OBS Project

Oh, I wasn't even aware of that .. not into streaming at all :) I've updated the article

Shouldn't the title be updated as well?

They sell the cameras everyone uses for streaming, why not have decent software and take more of that pie.

Might want to update the title to reflect that because it is misleading as is.

Well, the title is obviously clickbait as it's entirely misleading and factually incorrect even after being told it is.

And also, Streamlabs did not 'fork OBS'. They forked the core engine which is basically a modified version of FFMPG and built up the rest from their as they needed to include their data farming code into it as well.
