Larian studios yesterday released two brand-new trailers for their upcoming Baldur's Gate 3. The game is being built with Larian Studios' new Divinity 4.0 Engine, so if you liked the base look of Larian's other titles (such as Divinity: original Sin), you'll likely enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 as well. This new game engine is being touted as representing a remarkable evolution for the studio, giving players unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that truly reacts to their choices. You can watch these trailers after the break.

It's interesting to note that Baldur's Gate 3 executive producer David Walgrave told Eurogamer that the game is currently only being developed for PC, with no intention of releasing it on current-gen consoles (next-gen ones, however, are a different matter entirely, of course). According to the producer, "I don't think that current-gen consoles would be able to run it. There's a lot of technical upgrades and updates that we did to our engine. I don't know if it would be capable of being able to actually run on those things. Maybe it could run, but then we would have to tone down the textures and this and that and it wouldn't look as cool anymore." Do you think the shown graphics justify that the games aren't being developed for current-gen consoles, or do you think Larian is simply catering to their prime market first?

I hope they take their time and not have the AI cheat their asses of later in the game like they do in DOS2.

I believe they are PC 1st and other later, they tend to support their games too and it should be a blast to play.

They ever release the specs needed for the game? I've only seen people guessing what is needed.

Steam & GOG.

Look promising so far. It's been very long since I play any turn based game on PC. Finger is itching.

This so much this, it's not just DOS2, almost every turned based game I've played does this.

That is one hell of a lot of space he's got down there on that UI bar. Lots of buttons. I like lots of buttons. Looks like depth is in Larian's mind <3

4.0 is a slightly modified version of the DOS2 engine. Considering you can hit 1080p ultra 60 fps with an Intel quad and GTX1650, it should not be too much more demanding.

We have the perfect counter, save scumming :)

Exactly. Its a like asking for a perfect AI that always gives you the challenge you can win.. it does not exist.

Its either: stupidly hard through cheating while playing "like the player"...; stupidly simple because handicapped or just plain bad; or unbeatable AI that does it all perfect.

Everything else is completely scripted and no real AI.

They have not, and probably won't for a while. It's still Pre Pre Alpha honestly, only thing people know from the conference is that for some reason it current gen of consoles would not be able to handle it.

It's shit. RPG with turn based combat is shit and can only be shit. All D&D RPGs should be real time with pause combat.

It is completely fucked up to have the game pause and go into turn base for every damn cockroach and insignifiant enemy found along the way.
