Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of California, is a pioneer in video game legislature. He recently proposed a bill to ban the selling of M rated games (games meant for people 17 or older, based on the ESRB rating system) to minors (anyone under the age of 18). However, a court recently ruled that such a ban would inhibit free speech, and would hence be unconstitutional. Schwarzenegger vowed to appeal this decision.
I signed this important measure to ensure that parents are involved in determining which video games are appropriate for their children," he said in a statement. "Many of these games are made for adults, and choosing games that are appropriate for kids should be a decision made by their parents.

This is actually good. Then we can blame the parents for kids gong berserk instead of a video game.

yea...most stores already ask you if you are 17 anyhow. Last time I bought an M-rated game i had to show them my drivers liscense to prove i was 17.

You should have to be 17 to buy an M rated game... Honestly..
I mean you have to be 17 to see a rated R movie...

Whats the difference... Yes blaming the parents over the game designers would be nice too. The last thing I want to see if a larger law banning violent games actually get passed downline.

No, that's not true. But I'm glad you said that, so that we can learn from it.

There is a big difference between a game rated "M" and a movie rated "M".
The "M" rating for a movie allows those under the age of 17 to watch, and remains in an advisory position.
The "M" rating for a video game (at this point) ONLY allows those who are 17 or older to play.
Thus, the "M" rating for video games is exactly the same as the "NC-17" rating given to mainstream movies with sexual content.

And now I hope you understand why these new ratings are wrong.

17 to PLAY!?!?!? Okay, I don't think that should be the law... Parents should have some say in there, besides taking out that law would honestly probably be better. It's pointless what are the police going to do walk into my house and bust my little sister playing GTA?!?! Seriously?

Am I going to walk into your house and see your 16 year old playing GTA and call the cops? And are they REALLY going to care... Probably not, sounds more like one of them things where they want to "Act" like they are doing something worthwhile and in the real world its just short of meaningless.

I pirate all my games anyway.

what?

pirate is a swear now?

jeez im such a pirate, i have the urge to pirate piratables for the purpose of using my pirateables to pirate more piratables. I just love pirating.

lol... don't blame the developers. Don't blame the parents. Blame the dumbass child. I was playing DooM when I was TWO YEARS OLD, and I was constantly playing viloent games like Resident Evil, Fighting Force, Metal Gear, etc... but I did not kill a single person thinking he or she would respawn somewhere else.

Don't ask for warez or other illegal activities. (ie piracy, porn) Threads will be locked or deleted. Discussion about these topics may be allowed at moderator discretion. The discussion of related issues are permitted within reason.

Oh please. There's nothing wrong with "I pirate all my games anyways". Your choice, go ahead and say you do all you want.

Just don't post any torrent links ;).

This sir you are wrong on :slap:
It means you cannot buy the game :shadedshu:wtf:

I would say 90% of the time its because the parents are slack assed retards.

Learn to discipline a child, and he'll turn out perfectly fine. Most parents will never grasp this simply amazing "concept".

But quite a surprise from someone being the star of a handful of videogames himself.

you know, most serial killers either come from rich houses where they had few friends, or from poor houses where they could not afford games, anyway. blame society :)

Thats more of a problem within itself.

Ya but you ended up here, and consumed by computers and games. Just think you coulda been an astronaut or something!

And to whoever said the ratings are wrong...um isn't A(O) the equivilant to NC -17?
So an M game cannot be bought by a child, just like an M movie cannot be bought by child correct?

There's a difference between a film watched in a movie theater and a movie or game played at home.

imo a video game is like an animated movie (like shrek)

except you control your character :D

man my dick still burns...

you know what's funny? the terminator is the house-hold symbol of violence, and now he's going against it. farmiliar? arnold brought the hummer to the public and made it famous beyond belief. now he's green.
