The current version of Windows XP Service Pack 2.0b is currently running very low on product keys, due to piracy the surprising longevity of the product. And so, to combat the lack of product keys, Microsoft is creating a fresh batch by releasing Windows XP Service Pack 2.0c. There should be no major differences, other than the latest patches built in and the new abundance of keys.

This version of XP will only be available to OEM system builders, and will only be in the market until Windows XP's official EoL date: January 31st 2009. Retail copies of Windows XP will stop shipping on the January 31st 2008.

Well hopefully by then they've replace Windows ME 2 err Vista with something that is better and maybe more efficient and streamlined for actual performance. MS should consider making a more performance and stability biased OS for those of us that want those features and a graphical, easy GUI, loaded OS for those that want eye candy and toys and don't need or want max performance...ahh well, I am glad I went back to XP. And maybe we'll see SP3....dunno what the plan for that really is if it is in fact going to be real, but time will tell...

Lol Kursah. But you are right. They should develop different versions, streamlined and pretty pretty.

So wondowns xp runs out in 2009 to coincide with the next new windows version. why was vista released again ?? ;)

the same reason why Windows 98 was released...Evolution

Despite Vista having problems right now, M.Soft would have or should have more like. have ironed out all the bugs with vista & possibly even improved it a little more & made it a little more streamlined etc. but since other software companies expecially in the gaming department are venting out their wares onto vista. people will eventually have to migrate to vista to keep up or wait until some Haxor party reverse engineers the vista programming & releases a patch which converts a vista compatable game into a XP compatable which has already been done for a few games.

So in reality we have no control O/S we choose to use. its all down to M.Soft listening to what consumers REALLY want instead of automatically assuming what we want. Just because the programmers could come up with hundreds of ideas doesnt mean that all of them are winners but they dont seem to understand that. to them their pushing the the meaning of O/S to the edge & making sure it has all the handy gadgets you will ever need & is able to do everything. even your chores. that is why vista exists - because M.soft thinks Vista is cool
