ASUS today rolled out the 2020 TUF Gaming A15 and A17 gaming notebooks powered by AMD Ryzen 7 4800H 8-core/16-thread processor, and two combinations of NVIDIA GeForce discrete graphics. The TUF506IV-AS76 features GeForce RTX 2060 (mobile) graphics, a 1 TB NVMe SSD, and 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory; while its sibling, the TUF506IU-ES74, features GTX 1660 Ti (mobile) graphics, 512 GB NVMe SSD, and 16 GB of DDR4-2667 memory.

The star-attraction with both are their 15.6-inch Full HD IPS displays with 144 Hz refresh-rates. The A17 (TUF706IU-AS76) sits between the two, with a larger 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display that has the same 144 Hz refresh-rate, but GTX 1660 Ti (mobile) graphics, 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory, and 1 TB NVMe SSD. All three feature a pair of USB 3.1 gen 1 type-A, one USB 3.1 gen 2 type-C, illuminated keyboards, large 90 Whr batteries, 1 GbE wired, and 802.11ac WLAN. The A15 TUF506IV-AS76 is priced at USD $1,200, the A15 TUF506IU-ES74 at $1,000; and the A17 TUF706IU-AS76 at $1,100.

Asus has it the wrong way around when it's the 17" that should be full "hamburger with the lot"

I mean it's TUF, why were you expecting great quality.
 
the A15 with R7 4800H + RTX2060 + 3200MHz DDR4 RAM option look good but the keyboard is putting me off. Unless, one can turn off the lights or the very least, are RGB (per-zone most likely), then that's fine.

Well my Alienware has the option to turn of keyboard backlight, so this one should be no different. If it can be lit up, it can be turned off
 
a must buy laptop.
do they have a normal keyboard layout instead of gaming layout? that "wsad" thing is really annoying.
 
Actually I was looking to post some these in the hot deals section but you beat me to it, anyway that 17 inch is what I'd probably get when it comes over here, no more gaming on "small screens" :nutkick:
 
No Radeon Mobile option!!
But this is ASUS, who will put a MX230 on Ryzen 5 3500U laptop than SSD+8GB Dual Channel RAM.
 
Actually, a few of our developers have been using TUF series laptops with the 8th gen intel cpu's in them. It is rare to see gaming laptops in a business environment, but they wanted more powerful machines on the go and we did not have the budget for it. These are great buys on sale. I've seen last gens drop to around $600 dollars on newegg when it was brand new. The quality is on par if not better than some of our older HP/Lenovo business laptops. No issues as of yet.

The RX 5600M and 5700M aren't even out yet, but I have high hopes for these.

The RX 5500M, while not a failure, is lackluster compared to the 1660 Ti Max-Q/Mobile (not sure why AMD decided to aim at this, but okay) while using more power (+10W) at the same load.

Neither 15.6 nor 17.3 have good screen,only 45 ntsc.You should link it to a monitor,regarding it as supreme mini itx pc.Or you'd better buy a 72ntsc screen and replace the original one,if you wanna use it as normal laptop.

rgb can definitely be closed.Because I'm using its china version now.
 
Well a monitor isn't what I'd term as "portable" & if we're going that route than AIO would be what one would buy, most of them are horrendously underpowered though.

TUF is just another low end model from Asus. Indeed I agree that the TUF series when it first got released is markedly different from the TUF series now. I feel Asus is unnecessarily creating too many models at the low end.
 
Hi, does anyone know what thickness of thermopads was used in the Asus Tuf Gaming A17 laptop with 4900H and gtx 1660 Ti? Tomorrow I'll be replacing the keyboard and cleaning it in the process. I have the paste, but I would like to prepare thermopads for myself. Anyone know what and how much to buy? Maybe a specific commodity? Thank you very much in advance.
