Cheating in the online portions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone is a well-identified issue by now. It has led to a considerable fall in the number of players actually engaging in the crossplay mechanic between console and PC gamers, with the PC platform naturally being the one most open to cheating efforts. Besides heavy-handed bans already conducted by Infinity Ward, which saw some seventy thousand players being banned, the developer in a Twitter post clarified some more ways in which it will be tackling the cheating issue: with specific matchmaking between players suspected of cheating in online play, thus populating servers with those players and leaving non-suspect players to their - expectedly - cleaner gaming environment.

Of course, it might be difficult to completely populate servers or matches with cheating players, but that isn't the question; in fact, it might serve the effort better if those servers were left sparser, so as to further intensify cheaters' notion of what the consequences can be of their anti-competitive behavior.

If they can get a solid detection going alongside this, this is a perfect solution IMO.

Bah, to be honest, the most hilarious would be their reactions to getting cheated out of victory by cheaters like themselves :roll::roll:

Would be awesome if we could disable crossplatform gaming and an new netcode is pretty much needed, the current one is garbage :banghead:
 
I suspect some games do this already but don't announce it. Another thing they could do is add artificial wait times for known cheaters, greatly slowing them down at no cost to anyone but the cheater. Make them wait 10x longer than normal then randomly disconnect them shortly after the game starts and make them wait again.

The idea is really, I think, That outright banning means they will just buy the game again (probably via a cheap key website) and get back to being pathetic.
This solution keeps them busy without annoying the normal players.

Sounds good to me. It would be ideal if they monitored matches at random to verify whether or not people were cheating but that's probably not going to happen.
 
I'd love to see the age demographic for cheating. As an old fart myself, I'd imagine it was all young people doing it. But, IW's solution is sublime - as long as the cheaters dont know they're with other cheaters. It'd be like a bad trip on existential acid. Groovy.

I was able to get 5 users banned in my previous games yesterday before the maintenance (the report popped up on my screen today). They do react if they review the replays as proof.
 
They do... I get temp bans and perm bans when I report. :)

Same, I have gotten 6 this week... Just super sucks that I got 2nd place to most of them...

I'd love to see the country of origin too. Quite a few times I've read people complaining here on TPU about *chinese* cheaters.

Made me think how Bohemia Interactive did OFP back in the day were the game would decay of sorts and things like aiming would get harder.

In call of duty games I'm 99% sure it's a placebo button. It does nothing but it gives the person reporting the satisfaction of reporting someone they think is cheating. On a console this is impossible so the button to report someone does nothing. At least it's been my experience being reported for getting 30kdr's (30 kills to one or no deaths) where I camp with an lmg and frustrate the shit out of everyone on the enemy team.

Camping is not cheating though. It's an undesirable gameplay tactic, yes, but it is not a form of cheating.

Using any hacks or any modifications to the game that allows you to gain an unfair advantage over other players would be cheating.
 
That's so stupid, just ban their IP/accounts, and be done with it. Reminds me of when i was playing APB Reloaded, some GM name Revo , instead of banning this one hacker who kept doing it, he played with him and kept him around. Very professional for a GM, haha. Ban and get rid of cheaters/hackers , period.

Reality: everybody cheats. Its not gender, country or age specific. Grown men half crying over the chat or audibly throwing stuff around the room should tell you enough. Nobody is immune to frustration and responding to it.

Might very well be, but on the other hand an effective anti cheat is that holy grail many devs keep looking for. It can make or break your online play and with it, sales.
