Epic Games has just recently unveiled its Unreal Engine version 5, which was demonstrated on next-generation PlayStation 5 console. Showing off some impressive details, Epic Games has managed to use all of the power available to them from the new hardware in the PS5 console. Rocking a custom APU from AMD, the PS5 console has 10.28 TeraFLOPs of computing power, which is paired with a fast NVMe SSD. Such a combination allows for the impressive demo we have seen just a few days ago.

However, if you wonder what equivalent PC hardware would you need to run the demo on, World Today News has concluded that you would need at least to have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card to run a demo if you could. The RTX 2070S GPU has 9 TeraFLOPs of computing power, and the demonstration would "run pretty good" on that GPU. By the time first Unreal Engine 5 based games come out, next-generation graphics cards should already be available and you wouldn't need to worry if you are getting an upgrade. For the people owning RTX 2070S and faster, they should be good to go for when games based on Unreal Engine 5 hit the market.

Its a very high requirement to be honest. That pretty much shuts out all the existing mid range gaming GPU, i.e. RTX 2060 and RX 5600. Which also likely translates to not many game developers using it, or even if they do, with pared down graphic settings.

By the time it is launched in 2021, there should be two new generations of graphics cards released, namely Navi 2X and Navi 3X.
And we don't know yet how the Radeon RX 5600 / RX 5700 XT compares to RTX 2070 S in it.

Well I have a 2070 Super but will probably upgrade to 3080 this year so I'm all good.

By the time UE5 games actually look like the demo, we'll be well into the 2022 (maybe even after that).

I have watched the Demo on my 4K TV with 200 Hz BMR, it's so much better than on my poor 60 Hz LG 24UD58-B. :(

Why don't they build monitors with the TV technology of high-refresh rates up to 1000 Hz and more ?

You absolutly do not want fake frames for PC's which is exactly what tvs with "Fake 1000hz" rates do. PC monitors are significantly better in almost all specs hence why they cost more.

I did hope for January 2021, right after PS5 release in 2020...

I am not convinced. My TV is so much superior, in everything - colour reproduction - it has true blacks :D

To me, this only confirms how big a leap Ampere cards will be. I guess Moore's Law is Dead is correct; the 20 series is not going to age well at all.

that sounds fair

wait, what do you mean with moores law is dead is correct? doesnt that contradict that 20 series is not g oing to age well

Hehe. I am sorry if there is confusion. Moore's Law is Dead is a youtuber who has been making predictions about the upcoming generation with supposed inside information. He also stated that the 20 series is not going to age well.

Gets me hyped for rdna 2, if this runs on a ps5!

Let's see what big navi can do, and more importantly, for what price!

Otherwise an xbox or ps5 would be a cheap way of upgrading your gaming pc!

Honestly, what would you expect? A tech for the next 5 years or more to target the mid range from 2 years ago for a baseline?

My 1080Ti will probably ace this with RTX off

No one should need a YouTuber to tell them that the 20 series wont age well - anyone with sense sees that the RTX side of things wont age well.

Even the 2080ti barely has enough RTX™ UnitShaderCoreTMUs™ to play @ 1440 with everything cranked up AND get acceptable fps to maintain fluidity at all times.

Well, congratulations then. I'm glad you know everything (and in hindsight at that).

They should of used a PC that FPS drop from that sony crap box is just sad.

You don't have to be an expert when RTX games with everything cranked up need 2080 Ti to keep stable FHD 60 without relying on DLSS.

And I'll congratulate you on your 3rd post; well done.

Also, nowhere above did I mention "knowing everything"; I merely mentioned that any sensible person wont be in need of some random clown on YouTube telling them such a simple known fact that the 20 series wont age well...

How did the sources "runs pretty good on a 2070S" turn into "requires a 2070S at minimum"?

Nice generational bump. Last gen was around a radeon HD 7870, who was "only" a 1080p king in 2012-2014.

By the look of it, you got a budget, kinda old 4k screen. 72% NTSC isn't that impressive, they might have cut some corners to favorise the resolution over the colors. Nowadays monitors specs are better, and they definitely do not trails behind TV's, otherwise visual artist would work on TV's.

i wonder which game we will see that uses unreal engine 5

Really? Anyone surprised? That is the whole point of this demo, selling nvidia's overpriced GPUs. And that is the whole point of giving away games! Don't pay for games, spend all of your money on Nvidia GPUs.
Epic games has officially become nvidia's slave.

ah yes, which is why the demo was sponsored by sony and ran on a PS5 with AMD arch hardware.

I wondered the same thing?
