AMD said that 400-series users should wait at least until January for a BIOS update. Let's not worry too much just yet.

It's how it should be done imho.

not try to keep everyone happy and give out shitty quality bios cause they're stretched too thin.
most people on older boards like that ain't gonna be buying the first round either due to pricing, once updated products come out with some lower msrp's, lower perf they'll have their bioses too.

Last part is my expectations, if they don't come out with a 5600 then.. it sucks! :p

I don't own one, but I'm kind of surprised the X570 AQUA, their halo mobo, isn't on the list yet. I do wonder if they're giving it a little more extra, like additional features that might not be readily accessible on their flagship Taichi. The board itself isn't much different from the X570 Taichi, IIRC. Maybe deleting support for all Zen 1000 and 2000 CPUs/APUs as well as Ryzen 3 3000 CPUs/APUs, and using the space savings for some special BIOS features for high-end Ryzen 5/7/9 3000 CPUs and Ryzen 5000 series.

The X570 Aqua wasn't even shown in their current list of Motherboards when I looked last night, I'd assume as it's a limited release with less than 1,000 available it will be given special treatment for the enthusiasts that buy it.

Are there even any rumours of next gen X6xx MB's coming. I really don't want to buy X570 or B550 but need to build a new PC sooner rather than later.

I think there won't be? But I can't remember where I read that (or if it was a reliable source, to begin with), so have your salt shaker at hand.

What I can say is that there has been nothing around about the chipset since some rumor early in the year. Either there is no 600 series chipset for socket AM4 or AMD is really keeping it as secret as possible.

EDIT: Found it. It was a tweet from Yuri Bubliy (1usmus around here). However, he didn't clarify what his source was, so again keep the salt shaker nearby. If nothing else, I think it makes sense. Unless AMD is introducing some new feature that requires a new chipset, it probably doesn't make sense to build a new one, not for AM4.

Ok I found out that AMD won't release X6xx MB's until Zen 3+ in second half of 2021 and will support DDR5. AMD didn't think there was anything that the X570 didn't do that was worth updating. Oh well I guess I'll be building 5800X system based on X570 or B550 around Xmas.

I really hope they didn't fall into AMD pressure to have the 400 series with limited support, just to sell more.
The Taichi X470 is one of the best Am4 mobos and would be crazy if it would not support the new cpus.

Is this a joke? No X570 AQUA on the list? Even if they just forgot to include it in the list, it perfectly shows their shitty attitude towards their halo product which had no bios updates since 2019

The special treatment that I got was no answer to my emails and support tickets whatsoever

Pretty sure they received a BIOS update last month. Including support for Ryzen 5000 CPUs.

20201014-104406.png

For whatever reason, though, they have not added Ryzen 5000 CPUs to their CPU Support list yet. Maybe they don't want to divulge any model numbers? Somewhat moot since we already know about at least 4 of them.

EDIT: Just to make it clear, I'm not sure how well this BIOS version would play with an actual Ryzen 5000 CPU. If you own one of those boards, wait for more BIOS updates. AMD recommends at least AGESA 1.1.0.0
