As if on cue, AMD add-in board partners have started teasing their upcoming custom-design Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, which AMD claims are competitive with NVIDIA's fastest. Here's the first picture of the ROG Strix LC Radeon RX 6800 XT by ASUS, featuring a refreshing new board design that uses an AIO liquid cooler too cool the GPU, while other hot components such as the memory and VRM are cooled by heatsinks that are ventilated by a lateral blower. The GPU AIO cooler uses what looks like a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator. Both the cooler shroud and the radiator fans come with RGB embellishments.

Update 14:38 UTC: We also have pictures, courtesy of DonanimHaber, of the TUF Gaming RX 6800 XT OC, and air-cooled ROG Strix RX 6800 XT, which looks a lot like the ROG Strix series cards based on the NVIDIA RTX 30-series.

Waiting the prices, if AMD RX6000's isn't only for the US, they could offer the RX6800XT for less than the 3070.

When you think about it the cost of a Water block, fittings, tubing, rad, reservoir and fan(s) it is not that far off. The problem is this current market does dictate that it will eye watering, call it the COVID premium.

Won't be surprised if Asus tries to sell the AIO version for 900.

These things use basically off the shelf AIOs yet are often 200-300$ more.

TBF to Asus, their top end pcbs and coolers usually perform the best. But yeah, its ridiculous the ROG tax just keep climbing higher..

but really even then not the best, cause all I have to do is set a strong custom fan curve on stock cooler, yeah it will be slightly louder but that doesn't bother me as i prefer a little white noise in my room anyway.

You can increase fans on the strix too, to make it run even cooler as well lol..

edit: silicon lottery being equal, you'll be able to push a strix card farther due to the pcb/cooler/higher power limits.

yeah but there is a point where temp no longer matters. if i can hit 65 celsius max temp with strong fan curve i don't care if i can get it colder or not at that point as thats a comfortable temp.

while I agree with you, a strix will objectively perform better than a reference design, is my point. The question is, is it worth it?

Man these newer Asus designs are ugly as sin. I really like their current "Dual" cards look.

No matter what my next card will be though its getting a full cover water block.

I'm curious about ROG Strix LC. Is the heat output higher than Nvidia cards (doubt it) or ASUS thinks OC headroom of RX 6800X justifies massive price premium.

Total heat output probably not higher, but 7nm might have hotter hotspots.

I am waiting for reviews for 6800XT but I think I will buy reference 6800XT and put a custom water block on it.
I have full water loop with Radeon VII and Ryzen 3700X in it.
If performance is as good as shown by AMD in slides, then 6800XT most probably will replace Radeon VII. :p

The Strix looks sexy Asus wins design cue points on that very sleek stylish and not overdone on the RGB overkill is refreshing clean and minimalist can be a lot more appealing.

When it comes to Radeon, Asus cards are the ones to avoid. So many blunders in the past 5-6 years, it aint even funny anymore.

To be honest I have no experience with Radeons from ASUS. Most of my Radeons in the past and there were many :D I owned were from Sapphire.

But in Mainboards, I have not used any other brand than ASUS in the last 10 years.
I currently own Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI) since over a year and no problem with it.

LC model boost over 2.4Ghz, lol. This will be enough to on par with RTX 3090, u don't even need 6900XT.

Yeah I'd lean toward a Sapphire myself for Radeon cards they've been pretty consistently of a high quality much like EVGA on the Nvidia side of things.
