The Electronic Arts owned BioWare studio have recently announced the Mass Effect Legendary Edition during N7 day celebrations. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes a compilation of the first three Mass Effect titles released between 2007 and 2012. The remastered games have all single-player DLC and additional in-game content included. While the games will be optimized for 4K with updated textures, shaders, models, and effects they will not be receiving a full remake. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is now available for pre-order at 60 USD launching in Spring 2021 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Hopefully this will be the last time. Bioware and their archaic DLC system can shove it up their galactic ass.

At least they should've remade the first game like Mafia 1 DE, imo. It doesn't hold that well compared to 2 and 3.

First in with a great big <yawn>. Nothing to see here but a half baked upscaling and cash-in.

You don't know anything about the game. Come back when you aren't just making things up.

"Our team at BioWare has been hard at work updating the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three enormous games. Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form. It’s been amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard take on new life in super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and beautiful visual enhancements. "

"More information to come in the new year!"

I wonder how many times they are going to rerelease these games?

They've not re-released them. We have no PS4 or Xbox One versions (back compat is not the same thing), we have no PS5 or Series X versions, so this is the first time since 2 generations ago that they will be all updated and working on modern consoles. This will be the first time and it is badly needed.

New textures, high frame rate support, no more archaic DLC system. There are millions of people that play the games every year even now that have been waiting for updated bug free modern versions of these games.

I actually can't think of a more wanted remaster.

Great bundle, terrible name however, it makes it sound like a remaster of the first game. anyway good to say PS4 and Xbox One owners get to play great games they might have missed.

Not a fan of the tacky "Legendary Edition" name ugh... they should have simply called it Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy

Many people, myself included, consider Mass Effect 2 one the best games of the last 10 years, story wise in particular, if not the best game. It is in 6th place on Metacritic at the end of the decade. It probably had more lasting impact on me than any game, it is my number one.

Now if only they could rework that ending of ME3....I doubt people will think its much better if the colours happen to be ray traced.

They needed a proper boss fight and Anderson needed his funeral and "The Intelligence" should have been explained better and been represented by something robot-like. It's not a big deal. At least now everyone will have the DLC included explaining the origins of the reapers, and the Citadel DLC is one of the best DLCs ever made.

Hmm, I could check this out as I've never actually played much of Mass Effect games.
Mass Effect 3 was my first foray into RPG games. Didn't finish it. Felt too complicated for my young age.

Years later I started from scratch, ME1. My god! I felt like slapping myself for sleeping on it for so long. Finished ME1 and ME2 to quick succession. I fi ally understood why people love Bioware RPG so much. Weirdly enough I still didn't finish ME3 that time. Guess I'll never finish the trilogy.

It was good as singular game but I felt that Mass Effect story could've ended with ME1. The highlight of that game for me was romancing with Tali. If Tali and Liara told me to choose between them I'd choose both.

So re-releases of old ass games is now the new "yearly franchise" trend.

Mass Effect 1 wasn't even a particularly good game. Solid 7/10 but I'd played many better titles even during it's original launch and parts of it were pretty tedious/repetitive gameplay; I doubt that's aged particularly well.

Bioware really stepped up their game with ME2.

I will definitely check this out as Mass Effect serie is like in my top 3 all time fav games.

I was planning a third complete playthrough but then I will wait for this instead, in case they modernize the first game a bit. 'graphics wise I don't expect much and I already played the game with HD/4K texture mods last time'

Im pretty sure the third image its the new Mass Effect, never seen that space ship before in the past titles.

Yep, supposedly it is from the new game:

https://blog.bioware.com/2020/11/07/happy-n7-day-4/

Meanwhile here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.

Great games all of them but won't play them again ever. Replayability isn't very good for such great stories that are the main reason to play it when you know the outcome.

This. The major draw of the ME franchise is discovering the storyline for yourself - playing it again simply won't be the same. I have to admit that ME2's romance options, varied character classes and branching plot did make me replay it once back in the day, but even then it wasn't as good the second playthrough.

For me it was 1 whole playthrough with male Shepard and another with female but I still want to play it again cause I want to do certain things differently.
Like I always play as a good Shepard cause thats my nature but for once I want to play like picking the bad/mean options and I'm also yet to romance Tali. 'Romancing Garrus with femshep was amusing'

Even tho I know the games already its still a fun game for me and every time I play it I get hooked on it. 'idk I just really like the whole ME universe as a whole'

It seems EA begins to become something more than a lootbox producer.

Yesterday I bought an EA game, the first in years. It was Burnout Paradis Remastered and it's as fun as I remembered. Only 10 bucks.

I always appreciate companies that remasters or remake their good old classics. I'm a nostalgic kind of guy... But I do think It helps keep video game culture alive.

I've never had the chance to play Mass Effect, I guess it would be an opportunity as it seems it one of those franchise you need to play at least once.

I WONT have whatever youre smoking. ME literally has the best replayability of any series. There are people who have gone back dozens of times. Most obviously less.
Not to mention that you can't max out your character or unlock the highest difficulty without playing trough atleast once.

There are so many dialogue choices and options that even after years i still discover new things watching someone play trough it.

It's not the end result that matters but the choices you make along the way that make it replayable. By that logic would you say a good movie is no longer good if you already know how it ends? No. It's still a good movie.

Exactly. There are a million people that play them every year. It has the best replayability. Hardest settings, all classes, paragon and renegade, and discovering new story pieces. Amazing music and gameplay.

Wouldn't mind playing this as I really enjoyed ME2 & ME3, I didn't play the first as I was lazy and just read the story from the ME wiki to get me up to date haha... ME2 was probably my fave of the bunch, only lost 1 person in the suicide mission and would like to try and get a flawless run on that.

I don't mind, usually it's anyway the time for a replay of a good game anyway, so why not play it with polished looks.
