Seagate Announces Game Drive for Xbox Halo: Master Chief Limited Edition

Yeah, you left out the two kicks in the nuts: this is a mechanical drive and DirectStorage won't work with it. Though the latter is not specific for this drive, DirectStorage requires NVMe, so it won't work with any external drive.

You sure about it being mechanical when it operates of 5V?
I'd assume it's an SSD.

It says "hard drive" not "SSD". It's probably a laptop drive, I didn't have the time (or curiosity) to dig any deeper.

USB provides 5v, 2.5" HDDs and SSDs only use the 5v line so they need no external connection. This is definitely a hard drive.
Bigger (typically >5TB) external drives are 3.5" on the inside, and those use 12v so they need an external power supply.

Pretty easily. You just can't connect them to USB hub, because you won't have enough current, but otherwise there's no problem.

This should have been just an external case that you could put a SATA SSD in. Using an HDD makes no sense even for Xbox One games.

Besides, when Halo TMCC gets the Series X update, you will have to install it on the internal drive anyway (or the official expansion card).
