If nVidia is releasing a high-end card to compete with big navi, then it's a pretty sure bet Navi 21 is actually fantastic.
3090 is going to need Titan/Quardo pro driver optimizations or dropped in price to $1199.99. 4GB of RAM isn't worth $500, but being able to do "pro" work is. Also not impossible the 3090 will stick around as a limited-availability halo product ala 8800 Ultra.

3080 Ti won't be faster than the 3090, and 6900XT is expected to be around that performance. Both will be priced at $1000, with the 3080Ti having more VRAM, but 16 GB is already more than enough and the 3080Ti has higher power consumption. And seeing what stocks NV has, the 3080Ti may be a near-non existing card like the 3000 series for some time. Plus AMD will have a 1 or maybe 2 month advantage in release, meaning they can fix prices if needed. But hell yeah, anything you say...

In theory, this sounds all great with the increase in VRAM and bump in CUDA cores. But there is a very high chance this will be as vapour ware as the RTX 3080. With RDNA2 being capable of challenging the top silicon from Nvidia, I think Nvidia is struggling to retaliate. I don't think the supply issue for GA102 chips will improve drastically over time since it is a big and complex chip to produce. The same supply constraint will likely impact Navi 21 since its a big and complex chip to produce. Perhaps AMD may fair better with TSMC.

Fixing prices will not benefit AMD in my opinion. If anything, now is the best time to claw back market share from Nvidia, and that is generally what AMD will want to do. All they need to do is to maintain their MSRP and ensure a better supply of GPU to the market. Prices will unfortunately still go up at the start because of scalpers reducing available supply.

This news almost make me feel better about missing the EVGA invite to purchase RTX 3090 that was only good for 8 hours...almost. Now back to waiting for vaporware GPU from both camps. FML!

The bus width doesn't affect price, each of the 3080 and 3080Ti PCBs will be identical to manufacture. The only cost difference is that all 12 of the GDDR6X BGA packages are soldered on for the 3090 vs 3080.

The bandwidth isn't going to matter at all for gaming. If it was even remotely a factor we'd see a noticeable gap between the 10GB 3080 and the 24GB 3090. We don't though. In fact, it looks like the gap is so small that nvidia has trouble finding any kind of workload that can fully-load all 10496 CUDA cores; The 3090 has 20% more cores but is rarely, if ever more than 10% faster. Those extra cores are under-utilised and we know the 3090's not being limited by VRAM bandwidth for sure.

Pro workstations may benefit, though it'll be in AI and dataset work, not in 3D rendering - and at that point you have to wonder why people are using Geforces with their gaming drivers and limited VRAM quantities at all.

You're basically talking about things you don't know. You don't know if AMD will have better stock than NV and you don't know what the real-word performance is going to be like except what's on paper by AMD which basically, up to now, means nothing. So whatever you say bud..

The performance must be same as the RTX 3090. There is no logic for a 1000$ card to have lower performance than a 3090 since the performance gap between 3090 and 3080 is way lower than it was between the RTX 2080Ti and RTX 2080.

Nvidia has just pulled ahead of Apple, charging $500 for 4GB of RAM.

....and this just reinforces the messed up pricing. $300 more for the Ti gets you more cores and 10GB more VRAM, $500 more than the Ti for the 3090 gets you, uh - just 4GB more VRAM?

It's a total mess, created by the ridonculous pricing of the 3090 to scalp impatient, rich, wannabe's who must have it all. I mean, I'm not blaming Nvidia - they're in it to make money and they know there's an extremely wealthy, gullible minority who will pay pretty much whatever Nvidia ask just to have the bragging rights, even if there's almost no justification for owning one.

Ok, still. Nvidia is simply expanding their lineup to give people more choice and not force them to buy a 3090. Granted, they have to wait for the new models to arrive, but still..

Premium products have always come a premium price. Look at the RTX 2080ti and Titan RTX. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

When freshly launched, but even now 3090s are not vanishing in minutes as they were just a few weeks ago. Whether thats because of this possible card, or AMD, or the demand appeared to be stronger initially, then slowly but surely people are getting their 3090s now. Either way, if you see someone posting a stock alert and its an hour or more old - there might still be stock, depending on the model and price. The top pick stuff - when not scalped to death - is still going pretty quick, but it wont last forever.

Scalpers selling RTX 3090 for €2000 here. I guess 3080Ti's will go for €1500.
I'm sure all RX 6000 cards will be sold out as well.

Just came back from a "Pre-Black Friday" computer show in New Jersey, USA. The other side of the scalpers is surely prevailing here. Used former 'crypto currency' RTX 2080ti's are flying off the tables at USD$350.1080ti's went for USD$250. Naturally cash is king. The reseller boys from Mumbai said: "Business will even be better in early 2021 when the perfect storm arrives for tossed 10/20 generation RTX cards. Meanwhile we are sold out of course which isn't all that bad for us." Madhu at the show from 'Bangladesh PC' noted that they love NVIDA by having brought 30-series cards on the market for a mere $500. This is good business for us and the man on the street that before could only dream about owning a used 2080ti.
