EVGA Launches the GeForce RTX 3090 KINGPIN Hybrid - $2,000 USD

Someone should start a poll. Subject: how many more GPU generations before they start coming with an installment plan on the side?

Its called a credit card, or a loan, and its been around for ages, and yes, people do it for this.

Faith in humanity gets minused a lot if you think of it for too long.

EVGA will sell these to people with more money than sense, which is why they keep getting made.

For the rest of us there are three things to consider:

  1. At four times the price of a 3070, it is not even close to four times faster.
  2. It is unlikely to make any game's story, mechanics, or bugs magically better.
  3. A 3070 at 1440p actually runs games 25% faster than a 3090 at 4K.

So, Chrispy_'s advice is to Just buy a really nice 1440p high-refresh monitor with the $1500 saved; Not even the 3090 can really do high-refresh at 4K so why even bother?

I'll just add, get an ultrawide 1440 height monitor instead... its awesome

Somewhat on-topic:

The EVGA Overclocking Invitational 2 is on-going between Jayz2Cents and GamersNexus with this new KINGPIN card:

Really? That is pretty sad actually.

Not really, online e-tailers have been offering Affirm, Afterpay and PayPal Credit for years. Amazon does this with their own store card.

Wake me up for the Kingpin: Reloaded Edition

Soooo....

If it's attached to a 360mm rad, why does the card need an additional fan onboard ? I know it is o/c'd bigtime, but still....

Also wtf is up with that flip up name tag....looks really stupido IMHO....

When I saw the $2k tag, I really expected something much moar special, other than the AIO cooler & some silly graphics....

Hybrid means that the thing runs on partial aircooling and watercooling. The aircooling on the card is there for primarily the VRM. I like how they stamped a full copper block on that by the looks of it with very neath fins.

I guess the 360mm rad is needed; but i have a bit of doubts in relation to high clocks. The thing standard runs in power limit at an avg of 370 up to 450w. A card like this could bypass that limit, and perhaps go all the way up to 600W. Now those are numbers that even two Epyc 64 core / 128 thread CPU's barely archieve.

For 2k it better come with a voucher for a girl of the night too
Ah - Looking to get some bang for your buck.
And some of those girls have extreme value as in the gift that keeps on giving.... Maybe a few gifts in fact.

The price of it combined with the shortages is beyond the pale. You can't get one already unless you pay the scalper tax and (Hopefully) those guys will have to eat those cards.
Not to mention hardware in computing in general heavily suffers depreciation anyway in most cases.

Pay it if you want - I'm not.

nvidia you suck! My words only! This is why they make profit... suckers pays 2 times for the products they make! Sick mo***r f***c....

600W TDP to get that sweet, sweet 10% performance advantage over the 6900xt

As 3090s are already expensive as crap, this doesn't have THAT much price premium IMO when thinking that this is practically the flagship model from EVGA.

The KINGPIN cards are generally collector items since they're so scarce and also limited time.

Also another thing, pricing is generally not linear, to get the top performance - generally the price is doubled.
