Stock for NVIDIA's latest RTX 30-series graphics cards has been a nightmare for customers across the world, with demand far outstripping supply. This opened up a proverbial can of worms, with scalpers taking to the world wide web, casting their own nets in taking advantage of not only the pandemic (and peoples' refuge in gaming in these uncertain times), but also of said unmet demand. So it has to be nothing short of a Christmas miracle that 500,000 NVIDIA RTX 3080 graphics cards have just been found in an unmarked shipping container in South Korea. The container wasn't registered in the port authority, and was therefore left unopened and unprocessed.

The graphics cards were stored in the container absent of any proper documentation by Samsung, as early as August of this year. Jeff Fisher, vice president of NVIDIA and head of the GeForce division, said in a statement to the company's shareholders that "We've been asking Samsung for this shipment for months. They told us that she had already left the factory, but then they did not present us with any document proving that she had reached her destination". These newfound graphics cards will now be correctly processed and put into the channel.

Geeknetic.es made this as a part of the Spanish Fool's Day, which is December 28th. However, considering the current state of the RTX (and AMD RX) market, this is a nice satirical gotcha which I'll keep on TPU. Let's laugh at our misery instead of wallowing in it.

500,000 sounds like a lot for one container, and also to loose for so many months, seems odd.

Had I spoke my literal opinion it would have been"my arse".

That had been a scalper or miners dream to find. But let's hope that is not the case.

Let the cards come out to gamers.

Maybe that's where all of ASUS' Strix cards are

Someone say it's not real photo. I ask myself: how many video card can they put in a box ? 10 ? So, haw many box are in this image ? Surely not 50.000

Man this is comical

I only want one of those boxes.
Only one.
Just one.
Honest.
Pleaseeeeeeee...................
Just one.
Only one.

So it looks like we found the reason why gpus are so expensive, middle January 2021 prices back to normal I guess.

That should hopefully improve stock levels, get distributing!

So you know its a Spanish April fools, and you still go at it at TPU, fully aware of the false knowladge it might generate among the readers who don't read the small faded text like some of us do.
This aint "it", chief. This is very far from it.

yes i'd assume this is not true, not sure why TechPowerUp is posting it, are they Spanish?

Well, let's just say that things are bad enough in the RTX-30 world that we can all laugh a bit. I still haven't found one on webstores in Portugal (I see them in our Ebay, being scalped out of their living, though).

Actually believing something as outrageously unbelievable as this goes a long way towards explaining some of the posts I see here.

Also, I have a slightly used bridge for sale, if anyone is interested.

Explains why there are no famous Spanish comedians.

blatantly Fake, the nVidia logo was stuck with Photoshop

Now you will have to watch out for jokes twice a year :P

500 000 cards will not fit in one container, so i guess it just GPU chips (maybe with RAM) or even uncut wafers.

from samsung... meaning these are just the gpu cores and not full video cards so yea 500,000 would easily fit in the container. picture is random photo lol, added logo's haha

Considering TPU is pretty much international, with English language being the default simply because it's the current era's "common language", you could make an argument that April Fools jokes shouldn't be posted either.

hahaha, I see now.... It was a (Spanish) prank!
