Lenovo Announces AR ThinkReality A3 Smart Glasses

Today, during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES ), Lenovo introduced the ThinkReality A3 lightweight smart glasses. One of the most advanced and versatile enterprise smart glasses to come to market, the ThinkReality A3 is part of a comprehensive digital solutions offering to deliver intelligent transformation in business and bring smarter technology to more people.

As increasingly distributed workforces and hybrid work models become the reality of a new normal, small and large businesses around the world are looking to adopt new technologies for smart collaboration, increased efficiency, and lower downtimes. From customized virtual monitors and 3D visualization to Augmented Reality (AR) assisted workflows and immersive training, the ThinkReality A3 helps transforms work across many levels of the enterprise.





The ThinkReality A3 tethers to a PC or select Motorola smartphones1 via a USB-C cable depending on the needs of smart workers anywhere. I feel pretty sane and I want a pair... Well, maybe not this pair but AR glasses intrigue me. I'm not an Apple fan but if rumors are correct then I'm very interested in the AR glasses they are working on. If anything they will drive more people to the market. This design is a step in the right direction. When I first saw these I thought they were the Boss glasses with just b/t speakers built-in.

I think the death of Google Glass was due to its price point. If I remember correctly it was $1200 USD and nowhere near the tech in these AR glasses.

VR headsets and AR glasses defiantly look more than a bit goofy in their current forms today that'll have to evolve over time. AMD or Intel will eventually start creating a small embedded FPGA tech mixed with thermoelectricity in a neck collar with a bit of a battery capacity that interacts with a VR/AR headset/glasses mark my words. Battery capacity and processing power along with weight are all concerns and that's probably the most sensible way to tackle the issue. You could use a small patch cable like you see on a analog synth and similar in look to a ear piece to relay power from the neck collar device to the headset/glasses and also a wifi connection between the two. The required processing could be handled by the neck piece itself while the headset/glasses just streams and displays what's necessary. The FPGA tech allows for a lot possibilities as well being reconfigurable in fact portions of the tech could be configured to be turned off and save power. I don't see FPGA being the only chip tech involved a portion of it cleverly could really go a long ways at the same time. You could even a pair of arm bands connected to the neck collar that also charge off body heat and a small patch cable interconnection between the two as well that could contain more embedded power and battery storage along with the perks of more body heat energy generation.
