Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation iPod lineup, including an iPod video with a touch-control interface, at a press conference on September 5th, according to DigiTimes. The new iPod video will come with a wide-screen panel, high storage capacity and Wi-Fi connectivity. In addition, the new iPod video is expected to be powered by NAND flash, instead of a hard disk drive (HDD). Apple's new products will also include a new iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle.

sales drying up so its time for a new product revision, maybe the next ones will have DAB capabilities.

Maybe the next ones will actually be priced competitively? and not be tied into iTunes?

Nope...didn't think so...

Exactly. Which is why after I read this, I yawned.

Lol, I have no problem with the iPod itself. It's a great looking machine, and the hardware and build quality is very good. What I hate (the same with any sony player) is that fact I'm tied in to a specific program to transfer my music, and I can't change the battery if it dies.

dark nova - you can change the battery in a creative ZEN micro - i have one. i also upgraded the firmware so now i can just use Windows Media player 10. creatives have good features and drivers are easily installed - just they do crash more times than can be ignored.

I know, I love Creative's players :)

they are good loads of features - nicely built, and driver updates are easy. if you are upgrading firmware make sure you do it on a non WMP 11 computer as for some reason WMP 11 jumps in half way and screws it up. the one dig i have - they crash way to easily!

Sorry people, but I have no problem with the iPod or iTunes. It's all very well designed, better than WMP imo. This sounds cool, however NAND storage? How much is an 40 gb iPod going to cost now...$400 alone for the NAND? Hopefully the new nano will also have a touch screen interface too. Wait why am I talking about new iPods.....I'm still on a mini....the original 4gb one :rockout:. Still going strong...and I'm not buying a new iPod until I either get rich, or my iPod dies.

w00t! A new iPod is coming...Hopefully this one itunes will be embedded in the hard drive with wifi access. I can't wait to see what comes next. Keep up the good work Apple!

Who said you needed iTunes to transfer music? I use WinAmp, and it works just fine.

My big gripe is if they switch to a lower capacity storage device. I'm running out of room on my 80GB model. It would be a slap in the face if they didn't release at least a 100GB or 120GB version.

Do you steal alot of music?

Nice stereotype.

Not everyone listens to music at 128kbps. Let alone movies do take up a lot of space.

Not a stereotype...Just a simple question for someone who has 80 gigs of music. :D

i cant see how a person can have that much - you cant listen to it all!

I have 60 gigs, downloaded a 1/3 off itunes, 1/3 was given to me from my friends itunes library, and the last 1/3 was torrent. I agree, I don't listen to anywhere close to all of it...

That's a stereotype, you are assuming he must steal music just because he has X amount. I have nearly 300Gbs of Music, and I own it all, as well as the REAL CDs.

I'm from a family of 4, who all LOVE music, I get through music really quickly. So there is a lot we have we don't listen to anymore, but it's still there in case we ever want to again.

You seem to be missing some key facts:

Videos take up a good chunk of space. Songs encoded in a high bitrate also take up a lot of space. Podcasts (which are free) can also be endless. To an extent, pictures also take up space, although I never put pictures on my iPod.

If I was sterotyping him I would say you must be a "thief" because you have X amount of music. I simply asked him a question, either way I'm done with it...If I offended you sorry.

Another iPod? Yawn. Other companies offer products with better features and batteries that lasts as long as it's advertised as... unlike the iPod.

No offence taken...but because of the amount of music I have I get lots of "suspicious" looks etc.

I once had to explain to my next door neighbour (who is a police officer) that all the music I had was legit -_-

True, but Apple made the mp3 player popular in my opinion. The other companies just profited off a new market that Apple made popular. Wether they are better or not is another subject

I'm just getting tired of 320x240 res screens. Sux for watching movies. I hope the new one is 720x480 or no buy.

Taking the question past a techy forum is going too far.
