Hi,
Lots of weird stuff happens when memory is off mostly when BLCK frequency oc'ing is overdone.

not to mention B550 boards are expensive like ryzen 5000 series and almost nostock for the processor.

the best budget option is to get b450 +r5 3600 i suppose

I dont see it as a software problem if it also happens on linux.
Well, I have an X570 Elite paired with a 3700X, RX Vega 64, 2 PCIe Gen. 4 NVMe drives, and most of my USB ports populated that is a Hackintosh running macOS 99% of the time and I have yet to experience ANY of the described issues, nor have others in the community. However, when I game in windows I randomly have my Logitech wireless keyboard w/mouse, XBOX One controller (both wired and wireless), and iFi xDSD USB DAC drop out and reconnect as described by others, sometimes multiple times per session. Every time this occurs I scream F-ing Windows! Rock solid in macOS! I have always assumed for the past year it was software. Just my 2 cents...

I've just finished my built yesterday, when I lighted it there was no keyboard input. I tried every port, in the end one port on the front panel did register my keyboard. Here are the results out the box:

I've had issues (dirty power, all port failure until the next restart) on B350, hence the mobo swap. Not sure if an Asrock thing, or stuff just doesn't last (it started 2 years in).

I have an X570 taichi and a valve index and I've yet to run into USB issues. I have a lot of USB devices as well, much more than normal.

Had the issue with my 5800X on a ROG Strix B550-E Gaming.

Eventually fixed it by refunding everything as i had WHEA crashes on factory default settings anyways.

I have to think so. I had a B450 and R5 2600 before my current setup, and it had a ton of problems with USB (and also with my GPU) that went away when I switched to 10700k/z490. My Mouse and Keyboard would often just stop working until I unplugged them and replugged them back in. I also had issues where it wouldn't recognize certain things in certain USB ports, so I had to arrange all my peripherals in specific spots. That board (Gigabyte Aorus B450) had a ton of quirks with it.

ROG Strix B550-F here with all USB ports filled up, a Ryzen 9 3900X, PCIE 4.0 980 Pro and PCIE 4.0 RTX 3070.

No issues at all, even with my new Oculus Rift S plugged in playing HL Alyx at ultra fidelity.

My "unreliable" AMD products have yet to give me any problems as opposed to the ones I had on Intel, but corporate fanboys gotta find a way to be a corporate fanboy in any thread huh.

motherboard it must be asus
ASUS is the one motherboard manufacturer I never had any problems with lol

Have any one tried this solution here?

I tried this on my own Asus ROG Strix B550-A Gaming and my mouse is working better no small hitching or shuttering.
Buildzoid were running his overclocked, that's not the way to troubleshoot things.
What about you?
Are you running the Zen 2 in your profile, or a Zen 3. Did this problem appear recently?

My solution: block Win10 updates for 35 days. Install AMD drivers. Repeat as needed. It seems like Win10 reverts both USB and Radeon on my laptop as fast as it can. Otherwise, my mouse is glitchy, and one of my 3 ports literally doesn't work, and the other two reconnect a lot. Maybe this is a different problem than what's being reported here, I don't know.

I don't remember any mouse issues while booted into Tumbleweed Linux. As far as I can tell, on 2 laptops here, it's 100% software issue.
If it's reliably reproducible on one OS and not in another (assuming you tested long enough), then it's very likely a software problem, either driver and/or OS.
I'm a little curious, the USB port that didn't work in Win10, did it work in Linux?

Hi,
Lots of weird stuff happens when memory is off mostly when BLCK frequency oc'ing is overdone.
Anything that happens when overclocking is self-inflicted.
Just because a machine passes hours of memtest and prime95, doesn't mean it's actually stable. Different workloads will stress different parts of the CPU and cause different timing issues.

I suspect these problem occurred when utilizing USB 3.2 Gen 1 or whatever retarded name is, and more like isolated VR headset problem not USB in general. I had fully populated USB port on Asrock B550M Steel Legend ( 1 wireless mouse, 1 wireless keyboard, 1 docking station, 1 USB WiFi, 1 wireless bluetooth for PS4 controller, 1 USB to RJ45 , 1 USB type C HUB and 1 USB capture card ) and the only problem I get is USB type C not recognizing my phone Google Pixel 3, but then again that were Google.

edited : I'm running PCIe Gen 4.0 for my RX5700XT, all tweak from 1usmus1 like Ryzen Power Plan (enabling C-States in BIOS) and Ryzen Memory Calculator.

Try with USB 2.0, I had much luck with it for OEM unlocking or adb tweaking rather than if I was using USB 3.0

Updated :
After uninstalling some security update, Windows now detecting my phone. Clearly this is software problem.

ZEN2 a Ryzen 9 3900X and yes after moving to my current B550 chipset board I had the microshutters and doing what Buildzoid did in the video fixed my issue.

I know my Auros X570 Pro has issues with USB 3.2 completely unrelated to this issue and Navi 10 doesn't trigger the USB 2.0 issues, Navi21 and Ampere cards seem to be the common factor

I had USB resets that would occur at seemingly regular intervals on my x470 early on and seemed to be resolved by UEFI and/or chipset updates sometime after Update PinnaclePI-AM4_1.0.0.4 Patch C.
At first I thought it was being caused by Corsair ST100 USB hub or the USBC hub that I also had connected but that turned out not to be the situation after I left them disconnected for awhile.

Fairly recently I tested with heavy use of a USB drive when this USB issue started to be reported, and it caused all my USB to disconnect. So I think this may not be limited to 500 series chipsets.

For me this USB problem seemed to creep in somewhere between

AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.4 Patch B ( with amd_chipset_software_2.04.28.626.exe, 2020-06-07 )
and
AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 PI 1.0.0.6 ( with amd_chipset_software_2.13.27.501.exe, 2021-02-18 )

Maybe this is useful info for those who have bios flashback and can rollback their system for troubleshooting if your're having a problem.

This seems to affect only periferals. As I said earlier only port out of a pletora of ports connects with my keyboard, and my razer mouse while it is working, it does not communicate with Synapse, ie I cannot use any of short cuts I programed with, or adjust the poling rates. But, every ports do recognise usb keys, and work as intended.

Wondering if it has any downstream impact on the Bluetooth and Ethernet dropout issues that seem to affect many B550/X570 owners regardless of board manufacturer (which is fixed by pulling the power plug for a short while, but keeps coming back) and that fixing this problem might miraculously help there.

Otherwise, even if the guilty party (AMD/Intel/Realtek) doesn't fess up, it'd be nice just get an official acknowledgement of those issues. Be a long time coming.

I'm curious, how often do you have to reboot it?

It's interesting to see what kind of threshold people find acceptable for stability. For me, I expect a computer to run non-stop and without any need for reboots for at least three months at the time, I generally just reboot for critical kernel updates.

My solution: block Win10 updates for 35 days.
If I may add; there is a simple way to block Windows update: disable updates on metered connections, and set your network connection as metered. ;)

i can see it happening when if/bus/ram are borderline stable.
e.g. removing a stick, win says its gone, but still shows the icon in taskbar,
until shutdown/reboot.
going from rfc 285 to 290/from IF1900 to 1800 etc, made it stop.

@efikkan
hope its a server or workstation (that has 24/7 load). otherwise your wasting power for nothing.
completely ignoring that just because something is running for 3 months continuously, doesnt mean much regarding stability.
