Intel plans to lower power consumption of standard chips for laptops and introduce quad-core microprocessors for mobile computers next year. Along with the new mobile platform codenamed Montevina, Intel will also introduce a dual-core Penryn processor with a 25W and 35W TDP, which will add performance to thin-and-light notebooks without increasing their complexity or pricing. The new chips will be made using 45nm process technology and will emerge in Q2 2008.

and the squeeze continues and no doubt another new chipset will be required when these cpus are launched.

good god this is almost a full year away from release on laptops :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu

:cry::cry::cry:
Nice going intel:slap: i hope amd can capitalize on this and release a quad laptop sooner though i seriosly doubt it considering how long its going to take for intel to release a 4 core on a laptop after releasing a 4 core desktop processor in Late late 2006:banghead::banghead:

I think AMD is actually bringing out a mobile quad processor in the same time frame Intel is. So, as far as that goes, it should be released around the same time.

Ohhh ahh 25W....coolio.
