Apple M2 Processor is Reportedly in Mass Production

They are using M1 chip on the new iPad Pro and iMac now, makes sense that they have another chip for their upcoming hardware (new MacBook Pro?).

When they announced m1 they announced that their entire lineup would transition to Apple silicon in two years. No tricks here — m2 is for MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iMac Pro.

I wondered when they'd update the 16" MBP, which is the only laptop model still running Intel. I could easily see the MBA keeping the M1 line one more generation (while getting the chassis and display updates), while the M2 goes into the MBP line. Right now there isn't a lot to differentiate the 2 models. I could even see the (rumored) 14" MBP start with the M1, with the option to move up to the M2, and the 16" being M2 only.

They should be. The future is ARM anyway and in the meantime Rosetta2 emulates x86 so well to the point where it outperforms Intel Macs in x86.
I'm sure those people would have said the same thing in the PowerPC to x86 transition.
your definition of "outperform" is flawed ,see how a 6 core outperform m1
no false bars or youtuber fake numbers,,just watch the time counter on screen
