Last-gen Consoles from Sony, Microsoft Also Facing Stock Issues in the US

Don't think about the price think of the happy clouds.

Add ASA sailing classes. Go into any yacht club and you'll be up and sailing within days or hours. Do it on a daily or weekly thing. The weather right now is perfect, once winter comes, most boats go on the hard, (hard top, hard storage, winter storage).

If I had a boat, I would be happy to learn how to sail.

I got my PS5 late last week and I received my GPD Win 3 (i7-1165G7 based) handheld gaming PC early this week (I replaced the stock SSD with a 2TB 980 Pro gen 4 drive). I can play the PS5 at home or carry the handheld to play my Steam library at my work place, or simply play outside. Everything I wanted this year hardware wise I was able to get it so far. I'm now waiting for Alder Lake-S to upgrade my 10900K based desktop PC. And GPU wise, I wasn't interested in the latest NVidia's 30 series. By early next year I want to be on a full Intel desktop build (just like my handheld device) so I'll wait for the Xe-HPG discrete chips.

It probably has something to do with this:

But I am sure it's not miners fault, oh no. /s :nutkick:

you'd have to be truly desperate to use a 7850. that costs $300, and uses 120w.

the Xbox one is even more impossible: can you say ddr3?

I'm just not seeing these things as a root cause for such a universal old console availability issue/.

Developer Mode would like to have a word:
Ok, now find a miner binary for it, and make it magically profitable.

But I am sure it's not miners fault, oh no. /s
Already explained. The consoles are likely being scalped, not used for mining. Ukraine just doesn't know how to tell the difference.

but for Series with gddr6 , its only a matter of time:
Did you read the thread?

Even if it did come out this comment sums up why no one would do it at scale:

If you are some propeller-head who has tons of free time, developer experience, and/or working on a PhD, yes it's possible but for everyone else it's easier to just build a rig and run the available miners - or go thru a big hassle to run a miner on 1 Xbox.

Time is money.

You are the one with the misunderstanding here: you can reuse that software on thousands of systems, at a $20 premium per unlocked system

you pay one developer a max of 10k to port, and then buy as many systems as you can - most app porting is pretty painless for pros (especially if you are already starting writ win 64)

It's the time to apply it to system that is difficult. A dev mode app will only run on that system, remember. You'll never get approved for more app sig/publishing rights than that either. You have to remember that thread is for miners by miners. Not one advised him to pursue it. GPU just ends up being cheaper.

Nothing was explained. If they weren't mining on them, then why'd they rack them up like that? Why not just leave them in the box? Why waste money and all that networking equipment on something that was bought to be resold at a profit?

What photos of them are you referencing? I must have missed them.

Regardless, if they truly were mining with them, their power draw was insane. Which is why they weren't paying for power. Which is why they got caught. Which is why most miners would never consider this.

Full circle back to original point. You can mine on anything profitably if you steal electricity, but that's far from a market impacting number of miners trying that... and those that are certainly are still trying to keep the numbers down so they don't get caught. Or they get caught.

None of that makes consoles appealing. LHR cards are more appealing than that.

The photos are right there follow the link and scroll down.

'Not ideal' is a far cry from 'it can't be done.' and claiming 'not used for mining. Ukraine just doesn't know how to tell the difference.'

I think this issue is not isolated to just US. Since the start of the year, I've noticed that most game stores only sells Nintendo Switch and nothing else. I was with the impression that both MS and Sony have stopped production of last gen consoles, but it seems like this is not the case as mentioned in this article.

You don't need a boat to learn. Check out sailing courses called American sailing association (ASA). There is many types of courses. The basic ones are ASA 101, 103 and 105. Go into any sailing club near any ocean or any larger lake and ask questions. Many clubs will have races on some days or weekends, you can sign up to crew on a race boat. If you're in another country the same rules apply but change the name instead of ASA.
I started crewing on racing sailing boats, it didn't cost me anything. But I made sure to take those sailing courses first. I bought a boat but sold it weeks ago. Next boat will be in a few years, don't have time for that.
