AMD Announces Radeon RX 6600 XT Graphics Card

Why would a sane person buy 3070 for 550 when RDNA3 hits, given the havoc that even RDNA2 caused to the Ampere lineup, imagine what RDNA3 will do to it.

Are you saying that with rdna3 they gonna instantly release all lineup? :D. Almost august here and you will be able to buy this gpu only next week. Rdna2 was released 10 or 11 months ago and now you got 6600xt only. To get 7600xt you will have to wait from now on 1.5 till 2.5 years. And 7600xt more like will be on par with rtx 3070 current gen. And will cost +/- the same?

In a normal market this would have been a $250 card. And $180-200 for the non-XT version.

Polaris replacement costs $379 US now? AMD has become worse than Ngreedia.

TPU benchmarks are dated.
AMD FineWine seems to work even with RDNA.

Yep. With warm wishes to all the green fans.

Is that so?

Good luck trying to beat this 2060 Super score with a 5700 XT...

AMD: "RX 6600XT offers 40% performance uplift over the previous-generation RX 5600 XT"

MSRP of RX 5600 XT = $279, MSRP of RX 6600XT = $379 (+36%)... 4% price to performance ratio increase if AMD words are to be believed.
Charging $379 for 128 bit memory GPU is insulting to us life long AMD buyers.

As a former owner of ATI Rage 128, ATI R9500, ATI HD4870, AMD HD6870, R9 280X, RX 480, Vega 56 all I can say to AMD is: "You're dead to me until you return to the old ways, offering gamers the best value for the money". If AMD doesn't want to do that, I'll have to buy Ngreedia or even go Intel's route if DG2 turns out to be half decent drivers wise and offer better price to performance ratio than green and red team.

@medi01 how it's Nvidia's fault that AMD is milking? You can't spell AMgreeD without AMD.

(something something, AMD bad, something).
Yeah.
Bad, baaad AMD! :D

Why did you post that Hitman benchmark though?

Is that so? (are benchmarks across 30 games countered by a single benchmark)
No, they are not. :D

Luckily, there is always that other competitor to buy from. Wanna have some "8k gaming with 3090" or are you rather into "3080 is 2 times faster than 2080" (both are actual claims by DF `:D)`

On a serious note:
1) There is no way supply meets demand any time soon (look at crypto cretin spending)
2) I'd rather AMD/AIBs make money on it, than random shops/scalpers
3) It isn't even remotely as bad as you make it look (formally, it's a bump of perf/$ vs a product that was great value to begin with)

4% better generational price to performance ratio on MSRP is a good thing? For me anything bellow 30% generational P/P ratio increase is an insult. That was true for the last 20 years and now it's suddenly OK to offer marginal improvements if at all (I'm not convinced 6600XT will not get utterly beaten by 5600XT/5700 at 1440p and 4K due to 128 bit memory bus bottleneck)? I'm getting to old for this shit.

Context matters, doesn't it? Like chip shortage in general, high demand on GPUs and what not.

Life must have been pretty insulting for the last 4-5 years then.

I think you are evaluating it wrong.
Look at RDNA2 pricing in general, cool, wasn't it? (MSRPs)

Now compare 6600XT to them, still below, ain't it?

It is a major bump up on the performance side of things, well in line with (phenomenally good in the high end) RDNA2 pricing and in a context of GPUs being routinely sold for twice the list price.

You will NOT be able to freely buy this for $380 anyhow, it will sell out instantly.

So what would you rather see, AMD dropping price by another 80 bucks and some random dude eating that profit, or rather having the company that was starving financially for decades and wrecked havoc on GPU/CPU markets in a great way (8 core CPU was $1000 before ryzing, 2080Ti level performance was $1.2k) build a bit of fat / have money to increase R&D spending?

For me it's a no brainer.

No, they are not. :D

Actually, you should be in agreement with 3DMark. According to their Best Graphics Cards ladder, the 2060 Super, on average, is slower than the 5700 XT.

However, the 2060 Super can still outclass the 5700 XT, provided it has enough cooling to achieve a substantial overclock. Put a water block on that little card, and it'll be able to handle a +15% overclock. That's just about 2070 Super performance.

Priced better than I expected.... AMD could have slapped a 450 usd msrp on this and it would still have sold out instantly. AIB are gonna upcharge the shit out of this anyway though I expect 6-700 usd street price.

That's exactly what I would EXPECT to see from AMD, because once MSRP is set, it's here to stay. It will not go down, not even after TSMC's supply bottleneck eases and mining craze goes away.
Are you OK with 7600XT costing $400? Because that's what you'll be paying for a Polaris replacement in 2022/2023. Doubling of the MSRP price in just 5 years. I know I'm not. I'll rather migrate to XBoX X at that point and use PC only for work.

Plus I don't find RDNA2 pricing "phenomenally good" at all. MSRP prices offers the same value as Ampere lineup. 3060TI and 3080 have still the best MSRP on the market imho. AMD could beat their price to performance ratio by a large margin, but they chose short term gains over market share gain in the long run. For me it was always a no brainer to go with the best value offer and that was almost always AMD GPU (with exception of 1080TI which I own), but now I'd go with 3080 or 3060TI over AMD offerings if dGPUS were selling at MSRPs.

@medi01 how it's Nvidia's fault that AMD is milking? You can't spell AMgreeD without AMD.

Lots of reasons for the prices

1. Older gens were gddr5 - just look at hynix and samsungs profits - I would guess Gddr6 and other ram prices have gone up quite a bit compared to Gddr5 prices from a few years ago
2. TSMC 7nm is probably charging a premium
3. covid
4. miners/scalpers
5. amd usually follows pricing set by intel/nvidia
6. company markups
7. e-tailer mark ups
8. larger chips as in more transistors for that Ray Tracing that everyone wants

etc etc

Everyone is trying to take advantage and ride the gravy train.

3060TI and 3080 have still the best MSRP on the market imho.

Hypocrisy at it's finest. When nVidia milks it's ok, but AMD has to undercut them (which happened) and they will still be too expensive for you.

Remember: GTX 960 used to be sub $200 GPU and GTX 980 used to cost $550. If we ignore the current crazy real market prices, the MSRP of x60 series more than doubled from $200 => $400 and same for the x80 series that went form $650 => $1200 ($550 => 700$ for non-Ti). Basically +200$ for both of your mentioned cards in only 5 years. How is that "best MSRP" for you? They were overpriced at launch but you don't mind paying +$200 more, however the +$180 increase in price from R9 380 to 6600XT drives you nuts. Seriously?

And don't blame it on crypto idiocy, it has stated way before that, not later than when $1200 for a 2080Ti was "good deal" and even 3090 at $1.5k was touted as good value" chuckle, by certain reviewers out there somewhere (hint: "8k gaming with 3090")

Crypto idiocy contributes. It took me an embarrassingly long time to put this together, but part of the reason buyers are willing to pay 2X or greater pricing is because they can make that up by running Nicehash on their new card for a few months if they wish. The "certain reviewers" part of your comment is key; not everybody was swooning over the 4-figure cards. If value was mentioned in a positive light, it's usually with frames/$ as a metric, which only the high-end stuff could push in 4K/VR at high detail. Graphics reviews orient toward the enthusiast, not to chumps like me who refuse to drop much more than USD200 on any one part.

So......40% faster than 5600XT. Let's see:

Wow!, this gpu is on par with RTX 2080 / 2080 Super!!
OMG AMD take my money!!!!

lol........this should be a $250 gpu.
As always, it somehow will fly of the shelves.

AMD has 0 motivation to reduce prices given they are selling anything they make(even Radeon 550s are selling for around $200 and more), so once again consumers are screwed royally.

You mean, consumers are screwing themselves royally. AMD isn't holding a gun to their head making them buy any of these cards.

Exactly. Common sense.

With SAM enable at 1080p , and without Sam it's equal or a bit worse than 3060 for sure. I intend to buy a sub 200mm pcb from amd but since there is no option though i would just grab the zotac 3070 or a ref 3080 for me.......i regret alot to purchase the 3090........

Exactly. Common sense.

Market forces decide prices. Pretty fundamental econ 101 shit.

Maybe if people werent buying shit at current prices we might see some different prices, but right now no company, Intel, AMD, Nvidia have any reason to drop their MSRPs, etc.

AMD shelf at microcenter is full and cards have been collecting dust for a while.
Meanwhile the Nvidia GPUs are on a voucher system and hardly make it to the shelf.
AMD used to be in the voucher system until they weren't.
You want a $909 before taxes 6700 XT?
