The Chinese Electronics company Jingjia Micro have recently completed the tapeout of their JM9 GPU series almost 2 years after they first announced the lineup. The JM9 series will consist of two GPUs with the entry-level JM9231 targeting GTX 1050 performance while the higher-end JM9271 aims for the GTX 1080. The JM9231 is stated to feature a clock speed above 1.5 GHz, 8 GB of GDDR5 memory, and will provide 2 TFLOPS of performance within a 150 W TDP through a PCIe Gen3 x16 interface. The JM9271 increases the clock speed to above 1.8 GHz and is paired with 16 GB of HBM memory which should offer 8 TFLOPS of single-precision performance to rival the GTX 1080. The card manages to do this within a TDP package of 200 W and also includes PCIe Gen4 x16 support. The two cards both support HDMI 2.0 in addition to DisplayPort 1.3 for the JM9231 and DisplayPort 1.4 for the JM9271.

While the JM9271 may target GTX 1080 performance it only features OpenGL and OpenCL API support lacking DirectX or Vulkan compatibility greatly reducing its use for gaming. The cards were originally expected to be available in 2020 but after various delays they are now ready to enter production. These products are highly unlikely to make their way outside of the Chinese mainland and if they did we wouldn't expect them to have much impact on the global market.

No OGL 4.6.
At least add Vulkan to it, that way DXVK and the like can be used.

I wonder how many trade secrets were hijacked for that one. Or reverse engineered.

If they have a decent hashrate then they can sell as many as they like within the CCP State
that MIGHT free up supply outside China for Decent Graphics cards

Idiots with more money than sense will buy them all, actually not only this, anything that can be used to justify the delusional fomo of idiots will sell it all and then after the supply outstrip the demand of idiots then they will crash the gpu market and then everything will go with it. This will not take long, I can see everything crashing very soon, 2022 will be the year of the bear. Intel was about to release its gpu too, will sell all of it. All will be a success then most of them will bankrupt down the line hehe, remember trolls, fat cows and slim cows every now and then, this nonsense will not keep for long.

mining GPUs... ;)
I'm thinking the same, without 'modern performance features', thats whats about left, well that and 8-bit gaming...

So why does it not support DX or Vulcan, what does it need to be able ot support that?

Well , it's a Start, they need to support better APIs though as these are effectively potatoes to gamers ATM.

It is mining GPU, but I believe, that after mining madness infracture could be reorganized to manufacture gaming GPUs

I imagine this infringes on no patents whatsoever...

If It is not sold outside of China then good luck on the owners of any relevant infringed IP
Sueing In China with Regard to IP China seems to have a "whats yours is also mine" approach.

1080 has almost 1000 GFLOPS more. This thing compete with 1070 Ti at best.

Hah, Intel takes 11 years of hype, noise, marketing bullshit and STILL HAVE NO F*CKING dGPU ON SALE TO THE PUBLIC

China just suddenly comes out of the blue with a pseudo-GTX1080.

I'm not going to say that Intel suck, but HOLY SHIT GUYS. Less PR spin, more product, maybe?

With no DirectX support, there's only one thing left to ask: Why? :kookoo:

What's your Chinese GPU worth if it has no DirectX support?

ETHhash doesn't care about DirectX and with 95% of all GPUs going to miners right now, neither do 19 out 20 potential customers.

Your Pick?

Idiots getting into money is a big issue though. Especially if they're successful at it.

The next step is getting ruled by idiots. Wait, did I say next?

GTX1080 performance without DX and VK support in 2021?

The only logical explanation would be these cards are for ETH mining. Looking at the big boom of crypto, the company also want a ride on the profit train. If they price them competitively, they could be taking away quite a bit of market share from the traditional GPUs (good news for gamers). They would also be using the miners as beta testers for their 1st gen chips paving the way for their future products which would very well likely include DX support to become a true gaming GPU.

Are you sure it's the next step? I thought we were already in it all around the world.
