ASUS Intros TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A Curved Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

ASUS today rolled out the TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A, a curved ultrawide gaming monitor that's closely related to the VG28UQL1A the company released in August 2021. As its name suggests, this one is a 30-inch. It comes with some impressive specs, including a 1500R curvature, 2560 x 1080 pixels native resolution, 1 ms MPRT response time, 200 Hz refresh-rate, ELMB, AMD FreeSync Premium, and HDR10, covering 127% of the sRGB palette. It uses a VA panel, and its other specs include 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, 3000:1 static contrast-ratio, and flicker-free brightness adjustments. Display inputs include two HDMI 2.0 ports, and a DisplayPort 1.2a. A 2-port USB 3.0 hub makes for the rest of it. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Dunno man. But then again 30 inch on 21:9 isn't quite as big as you'd think. A 32 incher with 3440x1440 is about similar in PPI as a 27 inch 16:9 1440p, and the same height!

Similar to 1080p regular 24 inch mainstream apparently! But this is certainly a PPI where AA methods are useful, which kinda makes it yesteryears display. 1440p and up without AA is always superior IMHO and not even that much of a performance hit compared to AA on lower res.

Also... 200hz VA? I'm dying to see the overshoot on this thing. But this screams avoid

2560x1080 on 30 inch ?

2560x1080 @ 29" 21:9 is basically a replacement for 1920x1080 @ 23-24" 16:9 at same height and ppi but with extra width. Same goes for 2560x1080 34" = same as 1920x1080 27" with more width. It's for those who are normally in the market for 23-24" 1080p monitors to dip their toes into budget Ultrawide without needing the signficant GPU upgrade required when moving from 1080p to 3440x1440.

Probably not gonna switch to 4k until upper midrange cards can do 4k 100+ hz on modern triple a games. 100hz+ is just a requirement now not to hurt my eyes lol
