6800XT - Artifacts

Hi, last week I managed to pick a 6800XT on AMD drops after months of try, made proper install of Windows 11, updated everything, Adrenalin 21.11.1 beta

First thing i did was to launch a 3DMark to see if the card was performing as it should, the score seems normal (19K)

But there was lot of horrible artifacts on GPU test, CPU test is ok btw

I think I already know the answer but just to confirm, is this card good for a RMA session or anything I should try first?

Squares, a driver timeout and/or just crashes hard like an old school Nintendo (freezes)=Problem with GPU core A.K.A. "SCLK", most likely.

It is difficult to tell, but a WHEA BSOD with "Cache/Hierarchy Error" for the reason=The VRAM A.K.A. "MCLK", most likely.

If there’s no temperature problems I would say it’s the gpu! Could uninstall driver to be sure.

Tried the 21.10.2 WHQL with the same result

At this point I'm considering reinstall Win10 just to test

Win 11 is public beta at this point. Verify in Windows 10.

Before reinstalling W10 uninstall the driver this takes the load off the gpu. If if doesn’t artifacts there’s your problem. GSOD points towards the memory but may BSOD also.

I start DDU in safe mod, uninstall everything, reboot and launch 3DMark?

Try to disable zero fan speed and set a higher standard rpm in the driver something like this

will run really bad but if no artifact you no where the problem is.

If your GPU is under warranty and you haven't opened it, send it back for a complaint. One of the memory chips is causing you a problem. Some megabytes are corrupted, or most of the memory. So if you do something light, it won't cause you a problem. When you load it and it exceeds or comes to that limit where the damage is, you will see the problem as here in the video.

The bench seems locked

I think I will go for the Win10 road anyway.
Even if i find that it's a driver problem i will have no other choice than go back to W10 until they fix it.
So better save some times and do it now

@jesdals zéro fan speed was already removed, tested 100% with no luck, but artifacts start at the first second of the bench when the GPU is still at 40°C anyway

You are running beta drivers,use WHQL or Radeon Pro for Enterprise, also AMD just released a newer driver. I Suggest using The tool from the net called Display Driver Uninstaller.

Hey guys I have a problem with the warranty form, they ask for a serial and a part number, it's the second time I fill this form but no reply since 1 week

Which "product part number"should i pick? even the format is very different on the box than on the card, but both start with "PN"

try to undervolt the memory, that should make it go away and you know what the problem is, but you should RMA it anyway

S/N serial number
P/N part number

S/N : is ok, it's corresponding on both card and box
P/N : is different on box than on card

I can only enter 1 number on the form

Have you tried decreasing slightly the core clock or the memory clock?

Tried but just for the science, frequency at 80% VRAM at 2000MHz (slider cound't go below)

I have some yes, I cant resign to sold my old GPUS, Always feared something like that would happen, so yes I still have a R9 290 in case of.
For a new card I don't know, since it's on AMD official shop I assume they could remove one from their stock next Thursday, but idk, time will tell.

I think you have a poorly seated Heatsink in some way, 90 degree hotspot with a max of 74 typical, I would expect a 10 degree gap personally again typically.
