j5create, a world leader in high tech computer accessories, and Intel, the world's largest manufacturer of semiconductor chips, are working together to develop one of the worlds' first USB4 multi-port adapters. USB4 is the latest USB specification offering several improvements over legacy USB-C adapters including higher transfer speeds, more efficient bandwidth allocation between data and display protocols, as well as backward compatibility with older USB and Thunderbolt specifications.

"We're thrilled to work with Intel to bring the latest USB peripherals to market." said Steven Lyu, Chief Operating Officer at j5create. "We are always innovating to deliver high-performance solutions users have been anticipating through a variety of products, technologies, and design collaborations." The USB4 multi-port adapters will be one of the first to incorporate the latest Intel USB4 controller, offering Thunderbolt compatibility and USB legacy support. Set to release in Q1 2022, these USB4 multi-port adapters provide efficient and dynamic bandwidth allocation up to 20 Gbps and dual 4K video support in addition to high-speed peripheral ports.

Think Ill wait for Gen2, v2.2, 2x2, release 2. B. I hear thats going to be the one to get, but you need to check the fine print for bandwidth details because nothing is guaranteed anyway.

Jokes aside, the 40Gbps version is called USB4 Gen 3×2 and yes, there's USB4 Gen 2×1, which is 10Gbps and then there's 2x2 and 3x1, both at 20Gbps. Keep in mind that USB4 Gen 2 is different from USB 3.2 Gen 2.

Understanding how to do my taxes is simpler than understanding USB versions, who comes up with this and concludes that it makes sense?

You know what

Next gen motherboards need to have onboard audio as USB-C ports (thunderbolt) only, letting us use them as regular USB ports too.

Imagine no more wasted space on the back IO panel...

And how do you recon you're supposed to get analogue audio through a USB-C port to speakers with a 3.5mm jack?

I mean that literally exists already - but i said nothing about cutting off analogue ports, only huge wastes of space like DVI and VGA, which still appear on modern boards
(Especially on ryzen, where most of the CPU's cant even use the ports)

Yes, it does on some phones, but it obviously still requires a DAC and those dongles...
Not sure most PC users would go for that.
Gigabyte seems to have dropped most 3.5mm jacks on many of their Z690 boards.
