AMD this CES announced the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card, its product to debut on the TSMC-N6 (6 nm) silicon fabrication process. Armed with just 4 GB of memory, the card is launched with an SEP of $199, although its real-world pricing tells a different story, according to retail prices leaked of two upcoming ASUS-branded custom-design RX 6500 XT cards.

The ASUS TUF Gaming RX 6500 XT is priced around 340€ including taxes, while the DUAL RX 6500 XT goes for 299€; a far-cry from the roughly 220€ pricing. The RX 6500 XT is purported as an entry-mid category product, designed for 1080p AAA gaming with Fidelity FX Super Resolution unlocking some more eye-candy. It is based on the same RDNA2 graphics architecture as the rest of the RX 6000 series.

Higher regional pricing in the EU was already announced by at least one of the AIBs.

is anyone really surprised by any GPU at-launch?

There's always excess demand. an on launch day - this story will actually hold water when you come back 3 months later, and still have to pay $300!

So these are the hiked prices by the manufacturers for their models.

There are going to be further increases by retailers when they go on the actual shelf.

The Board Partners are in the driver's seat and that tariffs/shipping costs excuse is gonna be ridden out for years. I'm just wondering when nvidia and AMD get the memos they're being sent and stop even listing MSRP's.

This should be an $89 budget gaming card. 4GB of 64 bit ram, pcie x4 interface. For $300 you can get a used 8gb 570 that's probably faster.

Exchange rate is 176€ for $199. And card costs 340€ - before scalping. Hope that Sapphire Pulse will cost less.

so $300 is for 6nm fab process tax.

This is Asus after all, never liked Asus because, as part of the big three, they always, ALWAYS, priced their cards at a premium. Gonna see if the exclusive AIB partners like PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX price their lower tier RX 6500 XT more reasonably.

Yeah, no thanks. Good to see that price to performance hasn't changed at all since 2016; if anything it's considerably worse.

INB4 the RX 6400 is $250.

My 1070 is still trucking along, and I have a GTX 780, an RX 460, and a GTX 750 Ti I can swap to in case it decides to die.

I'm just impressed the heat sink doesn't blow out the sides of it now, lol

I liked asus up until the TUF boards skimped on quality, Give me an AsRock Steel Legend anyday

lol $300 for a 4GB low tier gpu

That will struggle in 1080p

id buy that for a dollar GIF

I hope this leak enrages ASUS buyers so that maybe, just maybe ASSU will lower its price. Dont hold your breathe on that. :shadedshu:

Sland rtx 3050 will go for 400-500. Rtx 3060 will go up and so on. Good I'll be able to sell 3060 ti for 1k, I like that.

Real prices! RTX 3060 TI 400$, RTX 3050 250$, RX 6600M 200$

Hard pass, sorry.

AMD, Nvidia, you've lost the fucking plot. AIB partners, get wrecked.

Seriously. I will dedicate my money elsewhere for a few years, and if I have to buy, I'll buy used.

I don't believe Intel will change the status quo, as (even if I believed Raja Koduri and his BS) the manufacturing will still be at TSMC, taking away capacity from the other GPU brands. It's a zero sum game.

Wanna hear something better? If nobody will buy, they will increase price even more till it will reach the point they'll probably stop making those unsold gpu series.

And Muppets have defended this card.

They are welcome to it.

This is just manufacturers obeying the law of market value. If it outperforms an RX570 that sells on ebay, used, for $225-$275, then manufacturers are being goddamn stupid if they're willing to give it away for less than that.

They are not charities; I don't have to like it, but their responsibility to their shareholders is to sell their product for as much as people are willing to pay.

Unless AMD enforce pricing, this is how it was always going to be.
