"It's a lot more expensive and only slightly better than the original 3080, it's slighly worse and almost the same price as the 3080ti. If you use this for any real work, the 3080ti extra cuda cores are better. It's a disgracefull cash grab."

Review done, you're welcome

(enjoy the vacation wizzard, no rush on this one, everyone knows what it is)
Hey, but the 3080ti is also a disgraceful cash grab.......

Nothing desperate about it. Literally been sitting on good 3080 dies until they had enough to sell at as an even higher-priced SKU.

Indeed, poor desperate Nvidia having to deal with a market that can't get enough of their products.

I remember when Vega was marketed at "blockchain pioneers" so AMD helped create the market.

Interesting, I am curious as to why it does not have any other name on it especially since it has more performance on top of the extra memory. Surprised it does not get the "Super" name plate on it.
I know it's just a name but I'm also curious why Nvidia didn't opt to denominate it "RTX 3080 SUPER" as the changes justified it. Anyway, now we have RTX 3080 10GB and 12GB versions.

Chill your strudel, some of us miner's are on two cards they already had and on PC that were already running for wcg.

I'll join in with the sentiment on industrial coin miner's though, give it a bad name.

Hey miners, you are responsible of the highest inflation rates in modern history and most unfair wealth distribution in human history. and also the chip shortage is caused by you.
Prepare to be lynched in the near future, as the whole world will put fingers on you soon. Kazakhstan was just a small sample.

When a crypto coins value's increases, the HR value of it increases as well and the cards HR is no more LHR

Everything except the "lynch" part was serious.
Well, if I were you I would leave crack and tik tok alone then.

You will have a happier healthier life.

That's why i'll never buy nGreedia in the near future.
IF if in the future AMD or ANYONE else puts up a product that's equal in perf or up 5-10 to even 25% slower, then i'll go that route, just so i don't give my money to nGreedia.
One of the reasons why i went 6800XT this time around.
Yeah and miners ARE to blame for this; they're not the whole story but they're a big part of it.
Enjoy your "gains" and "wealth" 'till the next collapse.

Gains and wealth , some of you people get excited easier than me, but fair enough I'm off to gloat at my whole £70 loot, only three more years and I can buy a 3080Ti not.:p

Looks like that they're starting from around 1800 EUR here. Weird how almost no one bought a Titan before but now the cut-down cards (or even the -70 cards) are way more expensive and they still sell like hot cakes.

And yeah, I know about inflation etc. but still.

At least nvidia can hold the record in the highest number of not available SKUs based on one single GPU design now.

That's true, I give you that.

When the top end is suddenly out of one's budget, one can throw pointless tantrums, or rearrange some upgrade plans. For example, postponing monitor upgrades is a sensible thing, imo. Not that 4K 165 Hz is so terribly impossible to live without anyway. I still find my 24" 1080p 60 Hz curved panel perfectly fine, and even my 2070 is overkill for this resolution most of the time. I bought this monitor for £130 in 2018.

Also, the money I didn't spend on graphics cards lately went into storage. All my internal drives are nvme now.

It's a bit like food during the big lockdown of 2020. All shops were out of spaghetti for some reason, and I was like "who said I can't make Bolognese with penne?"

Not that I am saying that gaming is pure but:
Gaming doesn't require your GPU to run at 100% load 24/7
It doesn't burn 8% of national energy resources for printing money
Doesn't directly impact Inflation in the whole world
Doesn't cause chip crisis in the whole world

While you are enjoying earning 80 dollar Euro or maybe even less, per month you are actually losing and also contributing in making every single person in the world lose much more than that.

Entire world does not revolve around crypto mining. Hyperinflation wasn't caused by crypto. Global chip shortage isn't about crypto but failed "just-in-time" supply chain model. Crypto is just a teardrop in comparison.
Kazakhstan wasn't about crypto, it was about increase of LPG prices and rich getting richer while people located in the area that produced the natural gas (which allowed people connected to the government to buy multimillion dollar estates in western countries) were getting poorer. Not to mention the potential attempted coup (no, random protesters don't go out and shut off the biggest airport in the country), petty criminals using this as an excuse for looting etc. Miners were long gone right after government announced plans to issue licenses for mining due to increased demand from the power grid during winter time.
Ask some random people on the street if they know what's cryptocurrency mining and probably 99% of them won't know what you're talking about. Ask them if their gas fees were raised by 200% compared to last year and it might be a completely different story.
Take Poland as example, inflation is at about 8% now and we're expecting to see double digit values very soon, taxes have increased, gas prices are going up, electricity charges are going up because we run our grids on coal power. Inflation is driven by consumption but government idea of combating it is based on... dropping VAT rates to 0%, which will simply make people buy more because it's "cheaper" now. Consumer prices are to be protected by the government but it won't make a difference if your local bakery suddenly has to pay tripple of what it used to pay last year for gas. My local bakery which operates for 70 years in the same location now has to pay over €2500 a month for gas. The same baker that refused to increase the bread price earlier is now forced to raise them by almost 50% (used to pay €8 for a weekly supply of bread, now it's almost €12).
Bubble is gonna burst no matter what and it ain't due to crypto.

The shortages around the world were caused by the governments deciding to close everything down because they suck at governing. It's not just a chip shortage, but it's a shortage on many other things, even employment.

The worldwide supply logistics was just stable enough to support things in our daily lives. Then the governments panicked, closed so much stuff down and brought things to a stop for several months. This was enough to completely shatter that fragile worldwide supply logistics. Once things opened back up, the world wasn't just standing still all together. People and some companies had been moving during the lockdown and the lack of a continued filling of supplies caused mayhem, confusion and lack of everyday material.

The place I work at, we watched the orders drop by half during that shutdown time and when things opened back up all companies bounced back to full speed, trying to play catchup with a severely strained supply line and things just haven't caught back up yet and they may never will. Our customers were crying about getting material ran NOW, RIGHT FUCKING NOW! to fill orders on jobs that were paused, that are now unpaused and their customers are screaming at them for the material to do their jobs. This is just at the company I work for, imaging all companies now in this dilemma because of poor governing.

Now you have other things causing problems in the already strained supply lines - car companies trying to basically stop gas production of vehicles at the drop of the hat and jump instantly into electrical. You have merchandise that can be hard to obtain due to a constant backlog of orders that still need to be filled getting scalped. You have companies piggybacking off the scalping and inflation coming into play that's jacking up prices. You have a lack of people working because everyone wants more money and the lower-end jobs are not being filled that help support the backbone of the economy.

The list goes on. This whole economic strain/crisis/mayhem that happened and is still happening from the shut down, you can thank your stupid ass government and all the other stupid ass governments around the world for causing this problem. Make no qualms about it, I hate them all for this shit storm they caused.

As for the 12GB card, as I've said before, it's just Nvidia playing the game and working the angles to maximize their material for the best profits. There will honestly be very little difference in performance between the 10GB and 12GB versions. The 12GB can't be as good as the 3080Ti, otherwise the 3080Ti becomes obsolete and then they miss out on that slice of the pie, but it has to be better than the 10GB version otherwise there is no point in paying an extra $400+.
