AMD's final refresh of the RDNA2 graphics architecture, the Radeon RX 6x50 series, could debut in June or July 2022, according to Greymon55, a reliable source with GPU leaks. The final refresh of RDNA2 could see AMD use faster 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory across the board, and eke out higher engine clocks on existing silicon IP. At this point it's not known if these new chips will be built on the same 7 nm process, or are an optical shrink to 6 nm (TSMC N6). Such a shrink to a node that offers 18% higher transistor density, would have significant payoffs with clock-speed headroom. AMD's RDNA3-based 5 nm GPUs could debut only toward the end of the year.

In related news, AMD is preparing to launch another entry-level SKU within the RX 6000 series; the Radeon RX 6500 (non-XT). Based on the same 6 nm Navi 24 silicon as the RX 6500 XT, this SKU could have a core-configuration that's in-between the RX 6500 XT and the RX 6400, in featuring 768 stream processors across 12 compute units; and 4 GB of GDDR6 memory, which is similar to the RX 6400, but with higher engine clocks. The RX 6500 is targeting a $150 (MSRP) price-point.

People just want to be able to buy the GPU's from the current lineup @ or close to MSRP, if they are getting new/more capacity with 6nm I guess that's something, but they won't be cheap.

I don't understand these 4gb flood of cards that seems to be the new theme. rx 6400? wtf is that going to play, indie games from 5 years ago only? I don't know, bit skeptical here, but eh. to be fair, I still have not finished dragon age origins and plan to someday, my backlog is massive... and a rx 6400 will prob max stuff like that out easily... so I mean, I guess everything is relative based on your backlog...

In theory, trying to turn off miners and the like.

Well, one day or another they have to migrate to a denser node. And cheap? It doesn't matter anymore since between miners, scalpers and AIBs seeing the opportunity to rise prices, MSRP has been a joke for years now.

Curious if the theoretical 6950XT will also be called "Ultimate" like the higher-spec 6900XT variant, or just "6950XT".

if that is the case then it is a mistake, there is always going to be some low iq greedy fucker thinking some alt coin or other will be the next big thing and with a shit eating grin buys all these up and mines it.

They've discovered that they can milk people using even little GPU's chips meant for thin laptops without hardware encoding and with only two video outputs. The real question here is why Nvidia isn't putting out add-in cards derivatives of the MX 570/RTX 2050 (mind you, since the whole ARM's acquisition deal I've been slightly sceptical on Nvidia's capacity to plan its actions).

Nvidia's options below $500 are:

GT 730 GDDR5 - $70
1030 2GB GDDR5 - $120
1050 Ti 4GB - $250
1650 GDDR5 & GDDR 6 - $280-$300

The 6500 XT matches the (unavailable) 1650 Super, and the 6400 would likely match the 1650 GDDR5.

Since there is no GT 1630, 2030, or 3030, then a selection of GPUs below the 6500XT to kill off the terrible 1030 would make a lot of sense.

if that is the case then it is a mistake, there is always going to be some low iq greedy fucker thinking some alt coin or other will be the next big thing and with a shit eating grin buys all these up and mines it.

They are literally selling for close to RRP in dozens of countries, it's working great for the actual goal of selling GPUs to gamers.

Imagine how bad the non XT 6500 will be.
I mean.... The 6400 is 3/4 of a 6500 with lower clock speeds, and the 6500 is the same thing as the 6400 but with clock speeds like the 6500 XT.

It isn't that hard to imagine tbf - the 6400 is 53W, the 6500 XT 106W, and the 6500 hopefully 75W.

Like, the 6400 will probably be overclockable to a 6500, and the 6500 should get slightly better cooling and be a bit more expensive but the main thing here is that with the 6500 XT at $230, then the 6500 will be cheaper than that and the 6400 a bit cheaper still. And, like, depending on overclocking, then the 6400 might be a better buy than the 6500.

I wonder what the RX6400 will cost it's interesting to consider since it could run VSR from another GPU with desktop cloning to basically apply SSAA to the native desktop render resolution. The wattage isn't bad and if it does a good enough job at it and cost it's not really a bad consideration.

Late 2022, AFAIK. At least, that's the schedule. Real availability and pricing remain to be seen, obviously

You probably won't see 6400 in DIY market, but a reliable leaker Greymon55 predicts 6500 non-xt should go for $130:

Don't worry, nVidia, "the way it's meant to be milked" champ, already took the crown back with the newly released 240p dGPU champion GT 1010 at only $70.

I'm taking about the marketing side. The ultra-lux versions of the 6900XT with the XTXH core just became the "6900XT Ultimate" for some AIBs, like PowerColor, or "Extreme" like Sapphire, to differentiate the "regular" 6900XT from the binned 6900XT. I'm simply curious if an even more refined, 6950XT might also inherit the add-on name to place it "above" the already binned 6900XT variants, or branded under another old title (such as "Atomic" for Sapphire, or "ARES" for ASUS).

If you take Aristotle back to first principles he says society is a function of it's education system.

yep, and I think he drew that largely from the dialogue of Plato/Socrates in the Republic

its funny how 2500 years ago they were largely smarter than the society we have today as a whole, lol

The 1010 (or something similar) of is somewhat necessary in that they have been robbing people for the last few months selling new 710/730s without any driver support, so if it allows them to stop selling those cards, then that's a small win.
