AMD Radeon RX 6400 Launched at $159

For h265 movies, low polygon games on hd screen, recording desktop presentation I used Rx 460

I was trying look up, but couldn't find info: Does anyone know if displayport supports MST on these?

I remember not long ago one used to be able to buy an RX 580 for that.
What, show proof of a new one sold at the price you suggest, Rx 480 launched at £219 and the 580 wasn't cheaper so I don't know where you are coming from.

OP not for me, it does feel like £50+ overpriced.

? the rx590 i bought right before christmas 2019 in germany/europe was 199€ as some of the "game bundle" ended and sliced the price down to lower levels on the streets :p

With current electricity prices how does this compare in efficency towards 750ti/1050ti low profile cards with no extra power plug?

And which "casual" games run on this piece of p**p nicely, if something along the line of counterstrike gets rereleased it might be too slow again :)

i still don't get why gpu's are so scarce, is manufacturing so hard of the main chip? Does smug joe now buy external gpu instead of intel onboard just to use more than one display?
It can't be true that half of europe is gaming on "home office" work rules....

$100? Has any GPU ever had an MSRP of $60? I don't even think it's economically feasible to make a DGPU at that price level unless there are some insane economies of scale involved.

As for this being a 1030-level card... Well, in a sane world where things had scaled normally since then, sure, it would have been a 1030-class card for 2022. But given the slowing update rate of GPUs and the ever-diminishing architectural improvements, the 40 tier is more accurate - and it shouldn't lose all that much performance from the 6500XT, which is an RX 580/GTX 1060-level GPU. If this delivers 75% of the performance of that, it's more like a 1650. If it's 60% of that it's similar to a 1050 Ti. The 1030 delivers 24% of the performance of a 6500 XT according to the TPU database, and there's no way this is that slow.
It's been a while. They used to slash the prices down as well.

some of the GT1030 are DDR3 or some sorts of reduced bottleneck ram they are also in that statistic with passive cooling they are slooowwww

So even close to EOL and discounted heavily you got £199(nice) however, it WASN'T £159 then was it or freshly minted technology.

Well done proving me right.

I am not arguing about this card's elevated price or relative performance, I would want to see more reviews before still not bothering with that, since it's as interesting to me as a GT 940 ,total hyperbole and miss information however will make me react.

This card actually makes more sense than the 6500xt. Some SFF users might really enjoy it for a compact, low power media center.
Not advisable. This card lacks encoders and decoders to make it a useful GPU for a media center. Given the specs, I rather you just wait for AMD’s Rembrandt APUs that have iGPUs that are gaming worthy and at the same time, come with updated encoders/ decoders, despite both using the same RDNA2 chip. Since Intel‘s Xe iGPU already offers like AV1 support, it is unlikely that AMD will not include updated decoders to their iGPU lineup.

amd with tipical slides demostrating this garbage is not totally garbage

good slides but if want recording gameplay maybe this card have hardware encoder

:)
AMD’s marketing slide is not wrong. But what they failed to inform is that performance will tank if you run this card on anything less than a PCI-E 4.0 slot. It also does not tell people that it is missing a lot of features that even the aged GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1650 can do. The lower power consumption is to be expected since we are pitting 14/16nm with 7nm.

Yeah, the 1650 in a PCIe 3 system matches speed with the $200 6500 XT

It's now $200 EVERYWHERE

Why would anyone o with AMD this generation?

$30-50?
More like (almost) $100 too expensive. This is a GT 1030 class of card, and that launched at $80. This should've been the same.
Same class as a GT 1030? Not even close. Its just a turned down 6500 XT. Its more like a 1050 which is a turned down 1050 ti

I wouldn't pay more than 50 American dollary doo's for this. :kookoo:

Poor performance and extremely high pricing.

But, if there is indeed a review, may it be on a PCIe 3.0 platform.
I game tested the W6400 which is identical on PCIe 3.0. Doesn't seem to hurt performance much since the card isn't too resource intensive.

I still don't see a reason why it shouldn't be tested.

Ok, so these aren't as bad as the specs make them seem. Still, 64bit memory bus? What is this, the 1990's? And the 4x PCIe is going to hold things back on a PCIe Gen3 based system, which these cards could have been a perfect upgrade for.

Gotta love that Powercolor doesn't even have any unneccessary box art, I don't even remember when I've seen a simple graphics card box like this:

Just before covid I could get an RX580 8GB for $225 CAD from Amazon etc. best I could find in 2 minutes. Note no Amazon history and 2 years max history. Convert Cad to usd and be about same as 6400. Correct 580 was not brand spanking new at time of pricing I mentioned and I am also located in Canada. The RX 570 4GB regularly was going for $180 CAD right around just before covid began. Kinda kicking myself for not getting one or two but who knew pricing was going to skyrocket as it did.

A terrible box - Samsung use this type of boxes for their phones. Very cheap and ugly - screams - we put no efforts, we just want to profit from everything..

A low-end card doesn't need any cool box-art (which is understandable in higher-tier cards).

That's rather questionable - Polaris had inflated tier naming just to avoid the perceived embarrassment of the top SKU being a 60-tier product. The RX 480/580 competed with the GTX 1060 after all. The RX 460 was a 40-tier product in all but name.

That being said, this is still ~$30-50 too high. Far better thanyhe atrocity that is the RX 6500 XT MSRP of course. But still too high. Wonder how it will perform though - anything new under 75W is interesting to me.

There is no 40-tier product. It goes 30, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90.

The 560 was a 50-tier product. https://www.techspot.com/review/1430-radeon-rx-560-vs-geforce-gtx-1050/page8.html

The 550 was the 30-tier.
