Apple Leopard Appears Nearly Ready

Apple's next version of the Mac OS X is reportedly close to being a release candidate, and some analysts believe the company is on track to meet its self-imposed deadline of shipping Leopard next month. Developers received the latest pre-release of the OS, called 9A559, Friday evening, just hours after receiving two minor updates of the previous build 9A527, AppleInsider, a site for Mac enthusiasts, reported. Build 9A559 contained only a couple of known issues, and may be the first of several release candidates, AppleInsider said. The last release candidate graduates to "Gold Master," which is the version that's shipped for duplication and retail packaging. An Apple spokesman on Wednesday confirmed that 9A559 was the latest build, but could not confirm whether it was a release candidate. Leopard's official release number will be Mac OS X 10.5. For Apple to meet its promise of releasing Leopard to consumers sometime in October, the company would have to finish the current testing process within three weeks, and some analysts expect the company to meet the tight schedule.

Yes, in fact, you may be correct. If you read the whole article it says that Apple is beginning shift more marketing focus back onto the Mac, since lately the iPod and iPhone have pushed it to the side as Apple's premier products.

thats true they have dominated apples intentions away from the MAC program, it would be good to see apple back in the runnings with some really good quality desktops and laptops, especially since i've heard that apple is developing its own processor with IBM in a bid to ditch Intel.

Meh, the current Mac 10.4.10 beats any OS I've ever experienced. With that being said, Leopard is going to be setting a MAJOR bar for all OSes. 64-bit for everyone ftw!

I believe everyone has to pay for it, but unlike MS, Apple is releasing one version that includes everything.

I don't have a bias for Mac or Windows, but I consider Mac to a be a top notch OS. The best OS I've ever experienced honestly.

Your apps were probably made for Windows, different coding for each OS. Apple does offer Boot Camp.

Probably a bad hackintosh install patcher. Tons of them floating around. Or, you may not have been aware that after you mount the dmg that most proggies come in, you actually have to drag it to where you want it installed. Running the app from the dmg doesn't install it 99.9% of the time.
