Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced its latest lineup of mobile platforms, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, to power the next generation of premium and high-tier Android smartphones. The Company's newest flagship platform, Snapdragon 8+, is a premium-tier powerhouse delivering power and performance enhancements for the ultimate boost across all on-device experiences. Snapdragon 7 offers a selection of high-end, in-demand features and technologies and enables them for more people around the world. According to the latest findings from Counterpoint Research, IDC, and Strategy Analytics, Qualcomm Technologies is the global leader in premium Android smartphone SoC industry share.

How can it be a monopoly when Samsung made the first chip for Qualcomm.
It just turned out that Samsung ran into some unforeseen issues...

Because other than 14nm vs 16nm, and arguably N10 vs 10LPE, Samsung kept running into issues for the past few years

Because unfortunately Samsung is not able to keep up with TSMC, and there is no other company able to keep up with it, even Intel is manufacturing it's GPUs at TSMC. Game over.

Soon TSMC will feel comfortable charging whatever it wants for its latest node. Simply because there will be no other options with similar quality and yield.

Not to mention that intel is still a huge player. Their arc series may be made on TSMC but that doesn't spell doom. Remember the i3 chips made on TSMC? That didn't stop 10nm superfin.

Either way, I don't care much about that, the improved efficiency is what I find interesting.
I've seen sub-1% difference bigger than that (mostly in fin-related graphs). It happens when the horizontal axis is not zero and is a documented way of "emphasizing" differences.
The opposite of that would be the logarithmic graphs which, to this, I'm still not sure I'm reading right.

About that part, it's funny how people scoff at SD480 in phones, without realizing SD480 is pretty much on par with what the SD7xx series was just a few years back.
 
Says enough about how capable the Samsung node is vs TSMC.
 
Remembering TSMC's 20nm fiasco and Intel being 1-2 nodes ahead of the planet Earth, I wonder.
Did TSMC improved massively after that 20nm node, or did everyone else kept failing, giving TSMC the change to become the best manufacturer?
