Minisforum is going to launch two new Intel chip mini PCs which are named NUCXI5 and NUCXI7. Both of them will share the same case design, equipped with a discrete graphics card, and will come with a thunderbolt port to perform ultimate gaming performance. The Minisforum NUCXI5 is equipped with Intel Core i5-11400H CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. The Intel Core i5-11400H is a high-end Hexa-core SoC that was announced in mid-2021. It belongs to the Tiger Lake H45 family. It has 6 cores and 12 threads and can be boosted up to 4.5 GHz. The CPU offers a 12 MB L3 cache and supports DDR4-3200 memory. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile is an Ampere graphics card that was announced in 2021. It is based on the GA106 Ampere chip and offers 6 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory.

The other one, Minisforum NUCXI7, uses an even more powerful CPU and GPU which is Intel Core i7-11800H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. The Intel Core i7-11800H is a high-end Octa-core SoC that was also announced in mid-2021. It has 8 cores, and 16 threads that can be boosted up to 4.6 GHz. The CPU offers 24 MB of Level 3 cache and supports DDR4-3200 memory. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile was also announced in 2021. It offers 8 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory with a 256 Bit memory bus.

Both computer sizes are only 80 mm x 260 mm x 394 mm. They support totally up to 64 GB of DDR4 dual channel memory. They have two M.2 2280 PCIe slots for storage expansion and can be connected to 2 monitors at the same time using 1 HDMI and 1 thunderbolt 4 port. If bought with storage, they will come with Windows 11 pro-pre-installed.

It's really looking quite good. But it's so dam thin, it's going to tip over all the time on a shaky table.

Also by the dimensions, did they just stuff a notebook board in that case?

IO is quite sparse but that is one good looking Mini PC/NUC.

True, but Thunderbolt can help with this, but it's a shame it's hella expensive :wtf:

This is basically a laptop without the keyboard and display. Unless the price is fantastic, no reason to get this over a laptop. Cooling is still going to be very limited looking at the slimness of the chassis.

The use of TGL and not ADL hurts my bones a bit here, but I know development takes time...

I like this form factor, I can just install it under my desk and call it a day.
I like it too (except for that damned stupid-ass skull graphic) and I would just hang it on the wall like a picture........but I am sure with those specs, it is way above my price range :(

You could order Intel NUCs with or without a skull so I don't see why this one would be different.
But like others said it makes no sense to buy this anyway considering it's just a laptop without a screen and it's using last gen tech, you can get one of the laptops that are now going on sale all over since 12th gen came in.

Really wish there were more NUC-like options from the AMD side; moreso since they could leverage their all in-house design to pull off similar abilities like smart power boosting that the "ALL AMD" laptops can do, but in a thin desktop format that permits more power when needed, then idle back to barely anything when not.

These are re-purposed laptop boards that Intel can't sell as basically nobody wants their NUC laptop line

IMHO that's a good thing. That's an intel IP. There was going to be a version of the alderlake nuc with RTX 3070 but that go pushed away to showcase intel arc. I wonder if this is the missing one. In which case it wasn't really scrapped.

Ugh, Tiger Lake really! I'd like to see the thermals for this. Looks like a laptop standing on its side. Why was it necessary to make it so thin? Style over substance I'd say.
