An innocuous search through the media asset-bank on the AMD website revealed the processor model numbers of the four Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" chips the company plans to debut its next-generation lineup with. These include the Ryzen 9 7950X, the Ryzen 9 7900X, the Ryzen 7 7700X, and the Ryzen 5 7600X. Older reports theorized that AMD could stick to a slim launch cycle with just 4 SKUs to be launched initially, and the series expanding to cover various price-points, later in 2023. The company didn't provide any specifications of these processors. It is rumored that AMD could announce these processors as early as in August, with availability slated for mid-September, 2022.

And better temps (i hope) than the mess they did with 5800x.

I wish you are right but honestly im expecting nothing short of 5800X MSRP if not worse , unless Intel decides to price RL agressively but given latest reports on RL performance i don't see that happening .

You buy the best to be the best.
Not like nvidia, who buys rtx 3090 ti? The one who pairs it with 3900x - pathetic.

Jokes aside. Give us 7600...

I'm not sure if Im gonna get the new Ryzen. My 5800x is OK as it is and since I'm at the 4k res I really have no need for the 7800x. Maybe at some point in the future but for today I'm doing fine.

new cpu, new mobo, and new ram? no thanks, see you in 2 generations when the latter 2 things mature
might get a cheapo 5800x3d to tide me over in the meantime... or not, considering most AAA games nowadays suck anyway

Has it ever been necessary to upgrade a CPU so quickly anyway...?

It would depend on the CPU you have and what is your aim for the usage of the CPU. Time frame for which you have a CPU, in my case as you mentioned 'so quickly', is relative and not a factor for CPU change or not I think.

7700X instead of a 7800X gives a tiny bit of hope for a decent launch price.

Call me skeptical but I am pretty sure they are doing this because the 8 core zen 4 will not match the speed of the 5800X3D... hence 7700X

You need to be more specific by not matching the speed. You mean frequency or performance? If performance, in games or office use?
These are totally different things.
Also, there might be a distinction with the 7000 series with 3dcache and without. In my eyes there is no 7800x, since there's no point for it to be in the lineup. They might as well go with the 5700x not in the lineup but AMD decided 7700x will be the 8c part.
