COLORFUL Launches X15-AT 22 Gaming Laptop in the US Market

Colorful Technology Company Limited, a professional manufacturer of graphics cards, motherboards, all-in-one gaming and multimedia solutions, and high-performance storage, announce the launch of the COLORFUL X15-AT 22 gaming laptop equipped with a 12th generation Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics. The COLORFUL X15-AT 22 is coming to the United States via Newegg.

The COLORFUL X15-AT 22 is equipped with the latest 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900H processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, and a maximum boost clock of 4.60 GHz. The gaming laptop is also fitted with 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory - upgradeable to 64 GB. For storage, the X15-AT 22 packs a 512 GB PCIe Gen4 SSD. The X15-AT 22 also features a Thunderbolt 4 port with up to 40 Gbps transfer speed.

For all intents & purposes, it IS a Lenovo, just with a different name badge, since colorful is still a PRC owned/operated/regulated company, and so is da 'eggem...

As for the backlit keyboard, it has been a feature on other higher-end lappies for a good while now, so at this price, it should indeed be considered as a standard feature....

FYI specs list say 3060 and your blurb under Pre-Order says 3050. Typo or is there a 3050 version as well (seems silly with a 12900H)

This looks like one of the Quanta/Clevo/Compal generic whitebooks to me. I've seen that triangle pattern venting on a couple of models from companies that usually use Clevo whitebooks, I'm just not 100% sure it's a Clevo since it's getting harder to tell each year.

I could be wrong, but this "launch" is likely nothing more than COLORFUL putting their logo on the UEFI splash screen (if they even went that far) and making some artwork for the box it ships in.

I'm just not 100% sure it's a Clevo since it's getting harder to tell each year.

Can't remember the name of that big Chinese OEM, but I think the main reason is because a few years back they've pretty much adapted the Clevo approach - make something that already works and don't fix it if it ain't broke. Hence, everything looks like Clevo even if it's not Clevo At least in a low-to-mid range price segment.

There are only three ODMs I'm aware of that sell barebones chassis (whitebooks) direct to distributors for purchase by boutique brands like Schenker and Eurocom.

• Quanta
• Compal
• Clevo

Whilst Clevo are tiny compared to the other two, their business model is exclusively whitebooks so you do tend to see more of them than models from other ODMs.

The other big laptop ODMs like Wistron and Pegatron sell exclusively to tier-one OEMs like Apple, Dell, Lenovo and make unique variants for those clients that do not get resold to competitors, so you'll never seem them create generic designs/platforms such as whitebooks for sale to multiple clients.

Hmm, possibly - it's the first I've heard of them but they are new - marketshare numbers for them don't exist before 2019.
