AMD Releases AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 Microcode to Motherboard Vendors and OEMs

I think they officially supported their latest generation but it must be up the motherboard manufacturers to implement. The performance gains are real when SAM is enabled and I'm happy it's working again. Wait do you mean you have the latest generation and it doesn't work?
No. What I'm saying is that SAM support even older hardware than AMD specifies. You can see my specs on the profile. People report even 390X and Zen 1 enabling the feature. Seems that AMD lied, and there is no physical limitation against the SAM support, only software. I guess it's all up to motherboard makers and their BIOS implementation of AMD AGESA 1.1.0.0.

You sure it's actually enabled? Does GPU-Z confirm that? Because as far as i know it requires vBIOS support from the GPU. Im not sure about AMD (i know RX 5000 and RX 6000 are defenetly supported) but on Nvidia's side even 20 series is not supported. Only 30 series.

I can still enable it in BIOS even with Zen 2 CPU but that does not mean it's actually working with an unsupported GPU.

It is, and yes it does.

"System requirements for Smart Access Memory supports all 3000 Series Processors (except for the Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G)" - from the AMD page.
It is an interesting topic, but if you try a web search, you'll likely find nothing really useful. Just random people claiming different things without any proof whatsoever.

Then everything is correct on your system. 5700X and Zen 2 are supported. If you had an older card they it would not be supported. It's not just a software toggle. It needs vBIOS support and 5700XT has that.

Here, just a part of the web on the subject:

AMD didnt lie - your motherboard and CPU support it, and your GPU does too

AMD officially added support after launch for RX5000 series with the 21.9.1, with smaller performance gains than they got with the 6000s - and in some cases, regressions or issues

To those wondering what this fixes:

I have a 3700x, 2080ti, x570 aorus master system and on previous bios F36e (now unavailable from gigabyte's website)
windows 11 had huge stuttering on many games in certain locations due to very high cpu usage that didn't happen on win10

(RDR2 was dropping below 30fps sometimes in towns, Detroit BH similar in the first town square location etc.) with TPM enabled in bios,

upgrading to bios F36f (20/07/22) fixed it.

- i never checked 10 with TPM enabled so i don't know if it was happening there as well.

That would be it, the BIOS updates for windows 11 enabled fTPM - bringing the issue into the open.

Prior to that, very few people had fTPM enabled so it went unnoticed.

Right,

I did a clean 11 install from usb drive and if i remember correctly tpm 2.0 was required to be on in order to proceed with the setup,
- so there must be a ton of folks out there suffering from this and not even realizing what's going on, ~30 fps where im getting 60+ now is a major difference, people need to be informed about this.
I just double checked and yes - it was still on after the bios update and switching it off only gave me a
"something happened and your pin is not available" message at windows logon, just reset it and windows works fine.

Everyone has been informed - this news story is from June, when the fix was released - and it wasn't a problem on earlier BIOS versions

I'm still not updating cause they don't allow past EDC 140. I have a good cooler 140 for me I think its a bit low.

Months later and MSI have just released 7A34v1Q7(Beta version) for the B350 Tomahawk boards. The closest non beta BIOS is from Jan 2019??

Has anyone tried running a 5600 on this board by chance?

[edit] never mind I see on the MSI forums they are using BETA for all Bios releases on older boards as they are not officially supported anymore.

Just noticed ASRock has the "new" L4.82 AM4 AGESA Combo V2 PI 1.2.0.7, and a newer 5.0 with improved NV 40 series compatibility.
Anyone tried them with the taichi X570?

So I pulled the pin and the update was a reasonably smooth process, just had to change memory settings to XMP profile2 for the Corsair 3000mhz Ram and turn off EUFI settings. After I change a 1700 Ryzen to a 5600 I had to do the same again and change the HDD boot to a non secure drive to boot my existing windows 10 install. Performs like an absolute champ, all my stutters are gone. I guess that’s what double single thread performance does!

So my B450M mortar max, a R 5 3600 and a 6800XT would enable me to use SAM? I'm confused...

yeah, but the R5 3600 wont benefit as much as the newer hardware

It hasn't worked for crap. Some boomer condescending twats said this is a non-issue after this. ‍♂️
Why are these boomers sticking up for shit companies, no standards ffs.

PEOPLE ARE SO CLUELESS, I HATE SO MANY PEOPLE RN
ALL THE PEOPLE THAT SAID THIS IS A NON-ISSUE NOW AND SAID I HAVE "TOO MANY BACKGROUND APPS OPEN"

Good news, this makes the switch from Windows 10 to 11 so much more attractive, especially if you own a 5800X3D.
IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME, HOPE IT WORKED FOR YOU

It seams your having issues.
I say seams because I read back through the thread and I'm still not sure what isn't working for you but if you need help fill in your system specs and let the world know your actual issue.
And perhaps try a less agro stance your new here, context is lacking and the vitreal boomer shit is purple and pointless.

A reporter made a post for me on a TechWebsite and they were grilling him because they said this is a non-issue now. I got the Update to AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.7. (Release Notes) (I am Ipzy in the comments)
Look at how condescending they were and after following their advice and nothing changed (dangerous really to flash your motherboard because of possible power outages)

My system specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Processor (8C/16T, 36MB Cache, 4.4 GHz Max Boost)
MSI X570-A PRO Motherboard ATX, AM4, DDR4, LAN, USB 3.2 Gen2, Type-C, M.2, HDMI, AMD RYZEN 2nd and 3rd Gen
Powercolor AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Red Dragon 8GB GDDR6 HDMI/3xDP Video Card AXRX 5700XT 8GBD6-3DHR/OC

You possibly need to chill the Fff out.

You debated on another forum, don't then bring that vinegar here, we didn't do anything?!.

I am not personally seeing this issue but have different parts so that means little.

Are you on windows 11 then?.
Is it possible that it's something. Else as well.

The OS is above but Windows 11, doesn't matter about it anyway.
Don't know why you're replying since you don't seem to have experience with this but thanks.
Unless you can bring in more contacts

Which was the hope, I might not have the issue but your post and tone had not brought answers so I advised!.

"Fill in your system specs., Calm the insulting tone"

I owned a 3800X on an x570 3 months ago ish so I have avoided this issue with the same hardware too but I don't have it now?!? So I couldn't help?! Hmmn this is going well, I'll leave you to it, hopefully someone else has the issue (in which case could they help you?!?)

So thanks, but bye then I'm out.

Ok, first off… let’s calm things down. What is the problem you’re having?

The reason why this thread was created, the AMD fTPM stutter because of TPM 2.0 on Windows10/11 (11 in my case)
