AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Fmax Frequency Set at 5.85 GHz

Not sure where you got those numbers from (8% IPC is misleading). I know WCCFTech used that comparison. AMD claimed 15% single threaded performance uplift followed by 31% multi threaded uplift and 25% performance per watt gain comparing to Zen3. Will it be enough to match or surpass Rocket Lake time will tell but you seem to know it wont already. Even though both are not released yet.
The 25% perfromance per watt metric refers to same wattage. Dont expect zen 4 to be more efficient than zen 3,you will be dissapointed. They will be less efficient out of the box.

That is at zen3 TDP, but we know zen4 will raise that by 65% and I won't be surprised if the only competitive chip in that regard will be 7950x, maybe to some extent 7900x (but only against 13700k), lower ones though - no way, they will simply have too great of a core deficit (what a thing to be true for the "moar coars" team, huh?) against i5s and i7s.

I expect Zen4 to be as efficient as Zen3 which is a very efficient CPU to be honest. It says (at least how I understand it) same wattage 25% more performance. Which in my opinion if this turns out to be true is a very great result.

Yeah it's a given that only 7950x and 7900x will compete in mt performance. The rest of the lineup will be competing with alderlake still.

Of course for me its irrelevant, since I only care about efficiency at same wattage (thats why I consider alderlake insanely efficient), but people here seem to care only about out of the box, in which case - bad news, zen 4 will be a power hog compared to zen 3

I would not be so sure about the lower tier wont compete but time will tell. there will be ecore deficit not pcore. If AMD cores are fast enough (31% faster than zen3) these stand a huge change of staying competitive with 13600K if we consider 7600x even if the latter one does not have ecores. I of course advise to wait and see instead of jumping into conclusions.

Well we have a race here now and the credit goes to Intel for that. How efficient these CPUs will be from both camps. I suggest to wait for the reviews. What I know for sure today is, the competition will be fears. Both companies are pulling all the stops.

So you're conveniently ignoring the line about 15% single thread uplift just below? Are you saying that performance numbers also don't answer anything about, well, performance? :D
You also are clearly ignoring that on that slide it had "> 15% single core uplift"...greater than 15% uplift, you keep forgetting the "greater than" part

It's so great to see both teams really innovating with their CPU designs again. Didn't Intel just announce they're adding more, lower latency L2$? And AMD just announced higher peak boost? All I know is that it really feels like we're about to launch into another K6 vs. Pentium era again. Everybody, no matter what manufacturer you prefer, is going to benefit from this.
 
I'm a gamer through and through, if any chip does what I want it to do to play my games I couldn't give a flaming Sambuca whether it's either company. The competition is great again. I love tech, I really do, but when I'm on my death bed am I gonna be thinking AMD or Intel?

I'm talking about the power consumption of the CPUs intel is putting on just like NV is doing the more power more performance maneuver. That is the race we are in now and obviously the ecores Intel is advertising as revelation in CPU industry which makes me kinda laugh :) Maybe I should have been clear about my thought.
Also there is a race about the performance which is good though. I only hope there will be no bloodshed :D
Obviously AMD has a huge credit for making intel come out and start releasing higher core parts.

Problem: it doesnt come at the push of a button when you need it most
But you still have to pay for that entertainment either way :)
