My home theater PC still runs 7, because Microsoft abandoned Media Center in 10/11. One of these days, I'll have to bite the upgrade bullet, but my family will hang onto W7MC for as long as they can.

Why do you need to touch something that works? Keep the Windows 7 system.

You should think that AMD has done a lot of testing on windows, windows gaming....No?
Intel/AMD can’t stop MS from making constant changes to their OS though. I’ve seen a ton of weird stuff. When that happens typically the fastest fix is a wipe and fresh install. I’ve also noticed doing a factory reset in bios sometimes helps. Seems all these things and changes seem intertwined a lot more now then they used to be.

I do hope AMD got a lot more specific bug reports than this. The description can fit just about anything.

And I do hope people have tried closing their web browser, AV, etc.

Well, if its like the AM4 USB bug, or the rDNA downclocking bug, or the blackscreen bug, ece then; if it is AMD; they will refute its existence until the wider tech media pick up the story, then suddenly AMD will go "oh well we're aware of the issue" and a fix will be issued shortly after.

That being said, this is unlikely to be AMD and more Microsoft's complete and utter lack of any sort of QA striking yet again, which will take a year + to fix and break twice as much in the process.

Bookmarked. Thank you!

Why do you need to touch something that works? Keep the Windows 7 system.

I plan on keeping Win7 on the HTPC for as long as the hardware holds out. But I know that its day is coming; it's 13 years old. (Athlon X4, DDR3, etc.) At some point, it's going to wear out. (I thought I was at that point last year, but it was just the CPU fan that died, and the auto shutoff kept the processor from frying itself.) I have not put serious thought into its future replacement yet, either hardware or software; but I know that I'll have to at some point. Until then, W7MC works just fine. :)

I have a running Windows 7 with Athlon 64 X2 from 2006 - 16 years old. And do not plan to switch to something else in the future. If something happens, will think - maybe I will be able to buy a new s. 939 board, or a new Athlon CPU, etc...

I don't think AMD is alone in trying to deny bugs as long as possible, I think they all do that if they think they can get away with it.
But regardless, having precise error reports and steps to reproduce is essential to narrow down and identify a problem. Unfortunately, users are notoriously bad at describing technical problems with the right details. But I have no basis yet to conclude in this specific case.

And it's quite possible that there could be a real hardware bug somewhere. Just because a specific software combination more easily trigger a problem doesn't mean the problem lies in the software. One such case was the uop-cache corruption in Zen1(not +) which AMD dismissed as a "Linux error" and a "yield issue", even though it wasn't the case.

My main system is AM4 Windows 11, Ryzen 9 5900X, 32 GB DDR4-3200, PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, MSI X570 Tomahawk which got broken with one of the latest Windows updates and I don't get sound now. Reinstalled the Realtek audio drivers - nothing at all.
In the future when I buy a new GFX Radeon 7000 (once they get released and have money), I will have to install a fresh Windows 11 but if the problem with the sound persists, I will be forced to look for a more aggressive solution - either to get Windows 10, or if that doesn't work also, get rid of the AMD system.

I'm not so sure switching to a non-AMD system will solve your problems.
Do you perchance have access to an external DAC?
(That will uncover if it's a driver issue or audio in general)
Running an external DAC (which is just a standard USB audio device) is what I recommend doing anyways, as the audio quality is superior, and there are so many affordable ones to choose from. Just pick one with a good volume knob and the IO you need.

Either they're really daft, or something else is screwing with the people who ARE seeing the problems (like a 22H2 update bug or nvidia driver conflict)

Thats not a windows 11 bug

that's a "You've got something set up wrong" bug

Yes they'll probably figure out it effects Zen 3 and Zen 4... Turning off the second CCD might also improve performance on both 10 and 11...

Likely these bugs jus get noticed now as people paying more attention due to the new launch.
Use Process Lasso or apply Intel Aldertake's Windows scheduler that keeps games towards the 1st 8 P-cores.

AMD should modify Ryzen Master to include features from Process Lasso.

'game mode' would be epic if it could push games onto the faster CCX and windows processes onto the secondary/tertiary

I haven't had any issues with Windows 11. It actually runs faster for me than 10. I didn't have issues with 10 either...
