SQUARE ENIX today released HARVESTELLA, a brand-new life simulation RPG, for Nintendo Switch and STEAM. Featuring concept art by Isamu Kamikokuryo (FINAL FANTASY XII) and music by Go Shiina (Tales series), in HARVESTELLA, players will experience a beautiful world that changes with the flow of the seasons and enjoy a variety of gameplay, including tending to crops, befriending townspeople and adventuring into challenging dungeons.

HARVESTELLA is set in a vibrant and colourful world where four giant crystals called "Seaslight" create a stable change between the four seasons. The adventure begins as abnormalities in the Seaslight begin to appear, creating the "Quietus," a season of death that takes place between the naturally occurring four seasons. During the Quietus the crops wither and people cannot venture outside, and troublingly, these seasons are mysteriously growing longer with each year.

In this life simulation RPG, players will grow and tend to crops, use ingredients to cook and craft items, and venture into the overworld, which vibrantly changes based on the season, to visit different towns, interact with townsfolk, go fishing and more. Players can select from various Jobs, such as Fighter, Shadow Walker, and Mage, and venture into dungeons with their party to discover the origins of the world as well as the truth behind the calamity along the way.

HARVESTELLA is now available digitally for Nintendo Switch and PC via STEAM. A physical edition for Nintendo Switch is also available, in addition to a free downloadable demo for Nintendo Switch.

Again a generic game based on a well-known franchise, in this case Harvestmoon.. They didn't even have the creativity to create a differentiated title... Meh.

Haven't we had enough suffering for one lifetime? Do we need extra reminders from a game?

Also, what the lad said:

looks like made 15 years ago, dang its nearly 2023 folks

Harvest Moon was the original American name, but was bought by a separate company. The original series lives on as Story of Seasons, but then the Harvest Moon trademark was invoked again. As such, the series people "care" about is Story of Seasons, not "Harvest Moon".

Something to do with weird Japanese-ownership over the name, but the USA company holding the name Harvest Moon, and those two not getting along very well for the last 20 years.

Also, Stardew Valley happened, lol. As did Rune Factory.

thought this said husqvarna and was like jesus their making games now.

Square is going backwards these days. I was reading earlier they are putting NFT's in their Parasite Eve reboot... disgusting... Square won't be getting anymore of my money in the future. Kind of glad they sold off a lot of their ip's I do love, cause I don't like the direction they are going. A shame. So much talent wasted.

Disappointed in Square myself to the point I'd never buy anything from them now if I was looking for a new game these days.
Even though it's fair to say game plots can overlap others at times this goes beyond simply "Borrowing" things/ideas from another.

I will be honest here, I never played Harvest Moon or ever saw it being played but if what you guys are saying is accurate then instead, it's taking a gaming concept, spinning it around in a different direction with a different coat of paint brushed on to dress it up as something different when it's not (So much).

Just caught the price on steam, $60.

So worth it!
/s off.

Square, like most Japanese devs, started going to shit when they started publishing on the PC seriously. They need to leave the PC completely. Never publish on it again. Go back to a single Japanese made console and focus. If they don't do that quality will keep going down.

Growing crops...cooking...fishing...
Someone remind them that games are supposed to be exciting.
$60 Sounds great!

There is a whole anime genre called slice of life. Which is just that. Not everyone wants excitement all the time, calm stories can be interesting too.

Animal Crossing is one of the most well known games on the planet.

Yep, GF is hooked in in animal crossing :), and while I'm watching the game is ok, no stress, build your own island and get hommies for the island :D.

Well, being that I do those things pretty regularly and really don't enjoy any but fishing. I can't say I would find it very interesting in a game. But I feel ya, if I were cooped up in an office all day etc I can see the appeal for that type of life.
I find war based strategy games relaxing. So much so that I play them before bedtime.

Hi,
Grass works...is awesome

so there is a Parasite Eve reboot?

I still play the game quite often to try and get through to the secret ending at the Chrystler tower to never actually end up doing it.

I am scared for the remake.
